Swiffer, Clorox, Pledge mopping systems -- are they any good?

I have the Swiffer and I love it. I hated having to wring out that old yarn mop of mine, just yucky. I love this new system :)

I have vinyl in the kitchen and baths and wood elsewhere so I bought the Swiffer as Clorox isn't approved for wood. I am really happy with the Swiffer so far. The floor seems especially clean and 'feels good' underfoot.

I bought the Clorox one. I have a nearly white kitchen floor and with two labs, I thought it would be good.

Every time I mopped with it, I was going through two or three or even four pads. And my kitchen isn't that big. I threw it out.

I'm buying a Floormate.

You will love it!! Just promise me you won't eat before you FloorMate because you just might get sick when you go to empty the dirty water! ;)

I bought the Clorox Ready Mop and have hardly used it. It uses a lot of pads and I can't say it does that good of job cleaning. Why can't they make pads that are machinewashable/reuseable? I'm with Pembo, nothing beats cleaning the floors by hand.

Tuffcookie...if you go to floorcare at www.improvementscatalog.com you will see a Magic Mop system that I have used for years. It has washable terry covers and you use any spray cleaner you want with it. Eventually, you do have to buy replacement terry covers, but they last a long time.

disykat...looks like they have a scrubbing foot system for you!!

I have a swiffer that I use now also, the kids like to use it. I actually just used it as I dropped the milk on the floor and it exploded all over.....is it Monday, perhaps?

Which model of the Floor Mate do you recommend?

Thanks!

Carole,

I have the H3000, which I think is the original. The H2800 looks to be a new version to make the price more affordable. I really don't see much a difference between the three they have on their site other than the cord length.

HSN has the Hoover FloorMate as a Today's Special today. It's only $134.90. I think it's the H2800 I mentioned earlier. I watched the demo last night, and I'm almost positive this model *does not* have the rotating brushes. To me, it's just not worth it without the rotating brushes. But, if you want to see the FM in action, flip over to HSN around 11 AM ET. It really is a great machine for those of you that love clean floors and hate mopping. I can't say enough good things about it.

Thanks for all your replies, including the Floormate tangent -- I may have to get one of those, too.

Well, I ended up buying the Swiffer with the $7 off coupon. I just finished its inaugural run (My life must be really exciting -- it's 9 p.m. on Friday night, and I just finished mopping!) I started by doing the powder room. It worked like a charm and I was finished in about 5 minutes.

Kitchen was not as successful. It was faster than my regular mopping and I wasn't drenched in sweat when I finished, but it's not as clean. I think it might work, though, if I do it frequently enough. The floor was probably dirtier than a Swiffer can handle. I said I wanted this thing to clean inbetween regular moppings, so what did I do? I used it when the floor was good and dirty.

I did really like that the floor wasn't sopping wet. I towel dried my floor before, and it's not at all necessary with the Swiffer.

I did use three cleaning pads, so that can run into some expense. The mopping solution, though, is no more expensive (my be less) than what I've been using.
