Swiffer, Clorox, Pledge mopping systems -- are they any good?

Are the Swiffer mopping systems and its clones any good? If so, is one better than the other or should you just get the one with the best deal? I've got a $7 off on Swiffer and a BOGOF on Pledge -- why you need two is beyond me though.

My kitchen is very big and has a light floor that shows EVERYTHING. I just don't have time to mop it as often as it needs -- these things looked like they might be for quick cleanings inbetween the thorough moppings.

mY kitchen floor is also big and light. I have the clorox one and I'll tell you, I LOVE IT. I just make sure there is mo crumbs or cat hairs on the floor first so I use the dry wifter then go over the floor with the clorox one, it come sout liek I just had the floor laid.

I have the Grab It, I got it on a special deal also.

I liked it at first but I can see it getting expensive. I have a long kitchen but it's the only area I use it on and the solution was used up quite quickly. Also the pads have to be changed quite a bit so the cheapie in me is sort of regretting this.

Right now I'm buying a house with all hard flooring so I'm looking for a deal on the Floor Mate. Right now it's pretty expensive and it goes like gangbusters on eBay. I think it'll be cheaper closer to Christmas.

I tried the Swiffer where you attach the thin, wet cloth to the bottom....I didn't like it at all, not wet enough to do the whole floor. I haven't tried any of the others where you spray the solution on the floor first. I just decided to go back to hand-washing the kitchen floor. Thankfully it's not a huge floor.

The clorox mopping system is nice because you can refill the bottle that holds the stuff that you clean with. None of the other systems are refillable.

I have the clorox one, well had, it broke and I had to get another one, I ended up with the pledge grab it n go and I like it and it works pretty darn good, except if you use it on ceramic tile floors. It's hard to get the foam cleaner off the grout part. That is the only complaint that I have on that!(I used the $10 off coupon at cvs when they were on sale for $13.99 and I paid only $3.99 for it! The refills for it are pricey, the only real downside to it.

The swiffer wet mop system is ok, but it does require batteries to operate.

You do get more coupons for the swiffer refills than any other mopping system right now. I have yet to see one for the refills for the pledge one. Clorox comes out with them about every other month, while swiffer is usually about every 4 weeks.

If you hadn't chimed in about the Hoover FloorMate, I was going to! This machine is a Godsend! Yes, it's pricey, but you can find it online for about $150. The best part - you aren't putting dirty water on your floor as you clean like you do with mopping or when you use the Swiffer, Pledge and other wet products. And if I don't feel like cleaning, I just run it over the floor to pick up the stray stuff like crumbs. It works for tile, vinyl, and hardwoods. I've got white ceramic tile throughout the entire house and LOVE my Swiffer Wet Jet! It does a great job on my floors and leaves a nice scent. I woudn't trade it for anything.

I currently have the Clorox Clean-up Wet mop system. I really loved it at first ( I have tile in kitchen and hardwood elsewhere) I noticed that the Clorox tends to leave my hardwood with a film. They just aren't shiny when the Clorox dries! My mom has all hardwood and she uses the Swiffer system...she loves it and her floors are shiny. I'm thinking of switching but I didn't know the Swiffer requires batteries! Hmm......

Okay folks, where the HECK can you buy one of these things? We have hardwood floors throughout our apartment, with tile in the bathroom and laminate in the kitchen. Which one should I use, and where can I buy one? I've tried our local grocery stores, drugstores, and even Wal-Mart with no luck! Are they THAT popular, or am I looking in all the wrong places?

I have the Pledge-n-Go mop system for my congoleum wood floors and it leaves a horrible film on them. They were very dull and showed everything.

I recently went to hands and knees, ammonia and water and a sponge and the shine is back.

I do like the Swiffer dry though. Really picks up that dog hair.

I just bought the Swiffer Wet Jet (with the $7 coupon!) at Target and love it. I already had the Clorox but I think the Swiffer works better. I have hardwood floors and the Swiffer has a special cleaner for hardwood. The bottles are interchangeable even if they are not empty so that it a good feature. I remember when they first came out and cost $50. The one I bought at Target was $19 so with the $7 coupon, it only came to $12. For that price, I put the Clorox one downstairs and will use it for the bathroom there, plus my husband can use it out in the pool house. Have you tried the new Swiffer duster -- the one with the handle? Those are Great!!!

I love my swiffer wet jet also. You never have to touch anything, just pull the pad off by the corner (you could use a paper towel if needed) and press the new pad on. Easy to use. I should get a dry one, for all the cat hair in my kitchen!!

Which ones? The FloorMate can be found at Target, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Kohl's, Sam's and lots of places online.

The Swiffer, Pledge, and Clorox ones can be found at Target, Wal-Mart, and some grocery stores.

Just used my Clorox Ready Mop an hour ago. It is only good for very light cleaning--does nothing for stuck on food, heel marks, etc. I'm really interested in that FloorMate--especially after I get a new kitchen floor to replace the piece-of-crap Armstrong I have now.

I know the price puts a lot of people off, but the very first time you go to empty the container that picks up the used water you'll be sold. You won't believe you've been walking on all that dirt. And when you walk on those clean floors it feels so good!

Somehow they all strike me as too much like what I do currently between moppings - throw a wet rag on the floor and push it around with my foot!

For those who are sold on them - do they make it easier for you to mop more often or do you still pretty much stick to your old cleaning schedule?

Swiffer Wet Jet here & love it! Every weekend I use the old mop & pail with vinegar & water on my WHITE (with taupe marble effect) ceramic tile floor but about every other day (sometimes everyday in the summer or dead of winter), I'm using the Swiffer as a quick pick up! Does a great job. No streaks, no slipping & no trouble! We got our kit at Sam's Club & it has several refill bottles & replacement pads.

I'm embarrassed to say though that I don't always replace my pad each floor washing. If it doesn't look bad, I'll re-use it. Sometimes I just have drops of water stains on my floor (right in front of my fridge ice dispenser ) and I use my swiffer to make them disappear!

I don't think you'll be disappointed in it.

If you have the clorox system you could always rinse the bottle out and then use a wood floor cleaner with it. That might help on that.
