why won't they let you take a picture with sweetums after muppet 3d? anyone know if he walks the park? hes my favorite muppet i also got another question do they sell disney costumes? i'd like my own sweetums costume

I have never seen any of the Muppets anyplace other than the show. Sweetums is my favorite too, DBF calls me his Sweetums sometimes but he says I do not look like the fuzzy orange muppet so I guess it's ok. :) LOL

:rotfl: Smart of your DBF to clarify that!

Copyright infringement?

The problem with having him walk around is that he's seen in the Muppet movies and shows as talking in the real world (instead of a cartoon world), so little kids wouldn't get why he's all of a sudden mute (I can't think of how they'd be able to rig it up so that he could talk and interact with people as he does on film...at least with Beaker and Honeydew, they're a machine that is not touched by humans, so humans can't get close enough to have the illusion destroyed).

Personally, I'd love it if they had a giant Rizzo or Pepe out and about.

But isn't that the same as Mickey Mouse, he talks on screen but doesn't at the parks, in fact my experience, which I will admit is only two visits, is none of the characters we met talked except the face characters.

Agreed.

I've never seen any Muppets characters in the parks - the robot thing of beaker and Honeydew, as far as I know, isn't around anymore - so I'm not sure that they are keeping anyone from taking pictures...it seems that they just don't HAVE those characters.

Beaker has always been my favorite muppet. There is a "statue" of him outside the muppet show that I had my picture taken with. :thumbsup2

*blush* I love the muppets, but I had to google Sweetums.

Oh, that big ogre guy! :rotfl:

I had to google him too - I thought his name was Animal and now realize that's a completely different muppet DOH!!! My husband is so going to laugh at me when he gets home and I tell him

Yes, yes it was. :) He has his moments of brilliance, luckily for him that was one of them. :lmao:

Oh thanks for this, I didn't know what PP was talking about. LOL I'd never seen any robot of Beaker & Honeydew before. :)

No silly, Animal is the drummer! :thumbsup2 An I Mal An I Mal.....:rotfl:

I don't know why it would be hard to explain why Sweetums doesn't talk, as a PP pointed out neither does Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald or Daisy....

Miss Piggy used to do meet and greets a few years ago in DCA. She and Kermit also used to visit at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and could be seen in the Stars and Motorcars Parade (With Sweetums, too!). To my knowledge, they haven't been seen in any of those locations for a long while. Where Sweetums is concerned, I can only see problems with little ones tugging at his already shredded clothing. He doesn't need to have any more tatters in his outfit! Not to mention he isn't a super cute and fluffy character, and the scared kids would probably outnumber the ones who actually know who he is. Adults too (not so much scared, but rather how many would even realize who he is?).

As far as wanting to meet a favorite character, unfortunately it's impossible to get EVERYONE'S favorite characters out to visit. There would be no space for Guests left! Sometimes it's just a fact of life that it just isn't going to happen. Sorry :/

I would imagine they probably just don't think there is much of a demand for him. When it comes down to it, probably only the die hards really know who Sweetums is, and even less would want to stop for photo ops. It would also cost them more money to make him available for meet & greets....he would need more cleanings and extra 'outfits'.

Not really, because the giant costumed version of him hasn't been captured talking to humans on film (only the little cartoon version).

Face characters can talk because they don't have anything obscuring their faces and muffling their voices (ie masks that cover their whole heads).

i dont think being a hardcore fan matters to them! im a grown woman and i asked before muppet 3d and after if i could take a picture with sweetums because i was a huge fan of him and they told me no both times so i had to break the rules alittle the next time i went to disneyland i stood up while he walked across the theatre to get a good picture with him nearby

I sure hope you didn't ruin the show for anybody else who may have been seeing the show for the first time.

The show has been open for a very long time. I don't think there are any really big spoilers here for first-timers. No more than on any other thread about any other attraction. :confused3

I think I'm seriously confused now. Obviously I didn't pay enough attention.

Tiana, this isn't like your post the other day about your brother, is it? :goodvibes :upsidedow :flower3:

I was wondering that too. Or if that is what the Princess picture thread was also.
