OK, so I have booked this for DH and I at Jiko. I know it's a lot of money, but we haven't been to WDW since our honeymoon 11 years ago, and I would love the souvenier glasses and menu, and I was hoping it would create a special memory on the night we leave the kids with a babysitter.

so...has anyone actually done this yet? I can't find a single post on the Disboards from anyone who has done it. What are the glasses and menu like? Did they make you feel special or was it slightly corny and embarrassing? (bear in mind we are English and so easily embarrassed by schmaltz!).

I have been to Jiko a few times and never noticed anything about souvenier glasses. Personally I would think if they do that it would be sort of corny. However, they might be able to print out a menu for you and have the chef sign it and date it. I have done that at many restaurants though not at Disney. It is a good rememberance of a special meal. I actually have some of them framed.

I would call Jiko and ask.

This is a special meal that they do at a few of the signature restaurants, it has a set menu and souvenier glasses and menus. Its about $150 for two. I just can't find ANYONE on these forums who has booked one yet! I'm beginning to worry that it's going to be a bit silly, so I'm wondering whether to cancel it and eat off the regular menu!

It's not a prix fixe in the usual sense. From what I've read, you have choices. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2158117

Scan down to post #5. I wouldn't worry that just because board regulars haven't posted about it it's going to be silly. The price is for both guests-not cheap, but I think it's a pretty good deal when you look at everything included. Sounds like a lovely dinner for two to me! :cool1:

Looking forward to review then Holly!

Just read on the Dining Review Board a review of a meal at Tutto Italia for 2 with apps, main course, dessert, diet coke - they posted it was $104 (before tip)- and if the glasses are etched - I know some champagne glasses can cost $10 to $20 (each) not etched!

eta - find out if the price includes tip...

and I think Jiko does fit you - I'm thinking of doing it at Yachtsman!!

this has come up a few times and i have not read a single review of anyone that has done it. It seems to be especially pricey for something with so litt;le information. I looked into it for our 25th anniversary and decided not worth it, plus (we were eating at Yachtsman) I didn't like that I wouldn't know what my choices were)

i hope if you do keep it, you let us know how it was :)

We went to Jiko 2x and I never saw a personal menu or glasses given. When we did eat in Narcossee's we did get a personal menu 2x (one for my birthday and another for our anniversary). Just a note, Jiko was great restaurant but there was alot of families with kids there. If you wanted more romantic where they do have allow kids ...I would go to Victoria and Albert.

We chose Jiko because we are staying at AKL and we are leaving the kids with the babysitter in the room and didn't want to be too far away. I'm not too worried about the menu as we pretty much eat anything, and we especially like spicy food. I think I'll keep the booking and give it a try - if not many people do it, then maybe they will make a special fuss of us!

When is your meal Hollytigs? I've booked the same meal at Jiko for August 31st, which will be the last full day of our honeymoon.

Will look forward to reading your review if you go first!

I am the one who posted the menu link shown above. We leave in 9 days and my parents are doing the Sweetheart Dinner at Yachtman's. I will post a review when we return.

Looking forward to seeing the review! Our meal is 28th August, I will try and get online the next day :lmao:
