I can't remember.

And I'm talkin' about the real stuff. Not that gross Nestea stuff that you get in the dispenser next to Pepsi.

Almost all TS restaurants have sweet iced tea. I am pretty picky about my iced tea, so I know what you mean about that Nestea stuff being icky. I think you will be ok. Some restaurants don't make it as sweet as I would like, but that happens near home too. lol Maggie

Oh good. A southerner!

Thanks!! I haven't eaten TS but a few times, and it was years ago.

So excited about our trip this September!!

Disney really is heaven on earth now that I know they have sweet tea.

Nonsoutherners... they just don't gitit. ;)

As of my last 4 trips, there was not sweet tea at the restaurants. I had to make my own with sugar and it just isn't as good.

Another sweet tea lover here, I hate to post this but while all the TS resturants serve good ice tea, almost none have sweet tea. Last trip in June I was only able to find sweet tea at The Rainforest Cafe @ DTD also the MickeyD's at DTD also has sweet tea.

Ok, what IS sweet tea? Is it just iced tea, sweetened? That's what I always figured it was. Am I wrong?
I hate tea in all forms, but I can drink things like Nestea or Lipton Brisk. (Cause it doesn't taste a thing like tea! :thumbsup2 ) So I always end up sounding like a snob when it's offered to me.
'Sonia, would you like some iced tea?'
'Gee, that depends. Is it real or from a mix?'
'Well..' (sounding put out and offended) 'it's from a mix, but--'
'Fantastic! Hook me up!' :rotfl2:

Sweet tea to me is always fresh brewed then mixed with additional water & sugar before the ice is added.

If you add the sugar after the ice is in the glass it's impossible to get the sugar to dissolve, giving you a large clump of sugar in the bottem of the glass and tea that's not sweet enough.
:confused3

I can't tell you from experience, but I read on the camping board that Fort Wilderness serves sweet tea (perhaps at Trails End)

Trails End has a wonderful sweet tea. We are from Michigan and that is always one of the first things I try to get when we hit the south. Also, Goodings markets has a fab sweet tea sold by the gallon.

This is how I make my sweet tea: Boil water to fill 2 qt. pitcher. Put 1 1/2 C sugar in pithcer. Add boiling water. Put in 6 regular size Luzianne tea bags (or 2 family size) and let seep. Stir, then chill. Serve over ice. You can not sweeten tea after it gets cold, you have to dissolve the sugar in boiling water; and yes, I use one and one half cups sugar. I said sweet tea, didn't I;)

My recipe is similar - but even sweeter, believe it or not! :rotfl:

In a small pot I put about 4 cups of water on to boil, along with a scant 2 cups of sugar to make a simple syrup. When boiling, I take it off the heat and put 2 family size tea bags in and let it steep for about 15-20 minutes. Then pour it into a gallon pitcher and fill the rest of the way with water. Chill and serve over ice.

My great grandmother taught me how to make it this way, and I've never had it fail!

Oh, and other than Mickey D's by the All Stars, I haven't found any sweet tea at WDW - just iced tea with sugar packets.

I look forward to finding some, if its there!

I'm not a southerner but i get it! thats how i make it too, but i add some lemon juice to it...thwe closest bought tea is the arizona sweet tea..they used to make a lemon flavored one but cant seem to find anywhere up here in the north..lol.another place i found at WDW that is really good is the green tea in japan..and the peach tea in china..

my suggestion for the sweet tea lovers is to order a cup of hot tea and a glass of ice... do your sweetening-thing and then pour it into the glass of ice... would that not work?

You have shown your northern roots ;) . I'm sorry, but it's not the same. Your suggestion would have weak lukewarm tea because of the melted ice. PROPER sweet tea has to have the sugar added when the tea is still hot. Adding the sugar to the tea after it has cooled is just not the same.

Liberty Tree Tavern used to have sweet tea, but the last time we ate there ( Thanksgiving 2006) they no longer did.

I did see something on the Food Network one time that I would like to try. It involved heating up a sugar/water mixture and bottling the resulting "syrup". The "syrup" could then be mixed with regular iced tea to sweeten it, and unlike sugar crystals it would mix in easily. I'll have to look it up - I think it was on one of Alton Brown's "Good Eats" episodes.

I believe HDDR has sweet tea as well. I am not form the south, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE sweet tea. I love all kinds of tea actually. I can't and won't drink the Nestea stuff. I always ask is places have sweet tea and that's usually what they recommend. Sorry, it's just not the same AT ALL!

:lmao: Me too! Well, I use 1 1/2 cups sugar for a gallon actually. When I read 1 1/2 cups to 2 qts I thought WHOOA! But that's how my Aunt Lynn used to make it. It was so thick and sweet- I actually liked it when I was a kid though....

Looks like you have found out the secret of Fort Wilderness Campground. "They serve REAL sweet tea there!" It is available at both Trails End and HDDR (shared kitchen). :cool1: :cool1:

Now where to find a decent cup of coffee....oops wrong thread:eek:

And now we know why southerners have that thick syrupy (word?) southern drawl!! the secret is the sweet tea!! and I LOVE IT!! I was raised in the midwest and STILL can't get used to the total lack of sweet tea and Dr. Pepper!

I didn't read that 2excited4words was 2 quarts!!!! Mine is about 1 3/4 cups per GALLON!!

One of my aunts makes it that way, though, and it is thick and sweet!

If I ever find an unflavored Splenda syrup, I might try it, but then we'd have an earthquake from all the Southern ancestors rolling in their graves, LOL!
