SWEET SIXTEEN :Have they been kissed? PTR: Updated 8/15

Just thought we could have a contest ... Name Rosie's Phobia !!!:rotfl2:Pat you get to pick the winner !! Oh the Boys will have a field day with this one !!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Now I am being stereo typed !!:rotfl2: Do I have a name :confused3:lmao::lmao:

Swimmers with baggage. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I actually found this on line and thought is was interesting. I tend to agree with this. Some people have the fear of floating and some have the fear of having their face covered with water. All natural. It is a fear of falling and suffocating. But it can be overcome.

In the course of writing my Master´s thesis in 1982 on swimming I noticed that after a 12-lesson teaching period everyone didnot learn to swim. When I was investigating why, I noticed that the biggest (80%) reason was fear of water, 10 % lacked muscular endurance, 7% had an illness and only 3% had motor learning problems. When I compared two groups: those who could put their face in the water at the beginning of the teaching period and those who could not, the difference in learning wash uge. Nearly all (95%) of the kids who were able to wet their face at the beginning of the twelve-hour teaching period learned to swim. Only 35% of those from the group who were too afraid to put their face in the water learned. It is a dramatic difference, but what does it tell us? It tells that some kids have problems in being in water and that it has anegative effect on learning to swim.

Thanks Pat !!!:hug:Marv and Glen would be busy setting up a camcorder while laughing their petunies off :rotfl2::rotfl2:
That camcorder would for sure have to have image stabilization if I'm gonna get anything of value recorded!!! :rotfl:
I am beyond help !!I can swim but have a panic attack if I can't touch bottom !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
You could have stopped after the first sentence Rosie! :rolleyes1
:rotfl2::rotfl2: Rosie, I specialize in your type. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Swim lessons would be 1/2 lesson and 1/2 therapy to get over the fact that you will be Ok if the bottom is not there. :lmao:
I'm thinking 10% swim lesson, 90% therapy!!! :lmao:

Inawanadrounophobia! It is a condition brought on by Ibedra-ponnameheadatberthiosis!

I'm cracking up over the last interchange of swimming-related comments.

I especially love this line:
:rotfl2::rotfl2: Rosie, I specialize in your type. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

If you are swimming you are not using the bottom anyway, it does not matter where it is. :upsidedow

That's true! And I completely agree with it....in a pool. But have you ever gone snorkeling in crystal-clear water where you can plainly see the bottom and it's like 30 or 40 feet below you? :eek: I had to remind myself of the fact that I didn't need the bottom.

Day 2 plans sound good!:thumbsup2

Take those breaks. When it's hot you really need them.

I'm at a loss as to what to name your condition but I'm enjoying the banter.

As for saying there is NO HELP for me :headache::rotfl2::rotfl2:

It may not matter to Pat , BUT it matters to me !!!:snooty::rotfl2:I would not be snorkeling in 40 ft deep water unles I grew 35feet !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Secret sharing time-I used to get anxious snorkeling. The whole breathing while underwater thing just made me hyperventilate. I have been able to snorkle without problems but at first I had to talk myself into relaxing and breathing normally. :rotfl2:

I do have more problems with being underwater and seeing the surface far above me. Being an aquatic person, drowning would be embarrassing so lots of precautions are taken so that doesn't happen. :rolleyes1 That and I float pretty easily so I know if I can to the top and breath its all good. I don't need no stinking bottom. :upsidedow

Then you just have the potential to step on things you should not step on. If my feet are on the bottom I can see them. Snorkeling in the Bahamas and being in the ocean were fine, I could see the bottom. Otherwise my feet are up. :upsidedow

Let me tell you about my morning !!!First I get a call that ahospital bed was coming today and then 10 minutes before it arrived the delivery guy called and said "You do have the old bed out of the room":scared1:Errr No no one told me WE had to !!!:confused3Maintenance guys are there BUT they hadn't got a work order GRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I am sure I will here about it BUT the Dang bed was moved !!:worship:In the midst of this upheavel !!The Dialysis unit calls the consumer who was there decided to eat her lunch while on dialysis and infiltrated the hook up !!I am sure Tonya understands better than me !!They were like blaming us !!Excuse me you are the idiots who were there and let her , we just drop her off ans sign her in !!:scared1:Meanwhile the bed guy is asking me does the bed need half or full rails :confused3and should the wheels be on or off !! Now the LPN was there and nursing ordered the dang thing and she knew nothing ,So another 15 phone calls !!I have decided that Nursing is NEVER oredering anything for my house again :scared1:What a screw up!!

:confused3. Nope can't help you. I did hemodialysis once and my left arm was attached to the machine by two big needles. :scared1: that was also when I wasn't sure what was happening with my transplant so wasnt allowed to eat. I know that you are pretty much stuck in one place so I don't know how she could have eaten if they didn't bring it to her.:rolleyes:

You would look really strange Rosie, unless you also grew 35 legs!!! :eek: Well, I guess that would look strange too, but you could really do one HECK of a pole dance for us in the future!!! :rotfl2:

I am home now , as in not Dissing at work !!! Dan disregard this !!!:rotfl2:I think after tonight I have a new job skill REFEREE!!! I know Dan will understand !!!:lmao:
Tomorrow I am working for yet another house before going to my regular job , so another long day , but think Disney money Rosie !!!:banana::banana:

My parents retired to the Poconos so if I am ever up in that area swim lesson would be yours.

I was at BIL and SIL house for the 4th and I ended up giving a neighbor boy some pointers in the pool. I can't stop if I wanted. :rotfl2:

You can prime DD in the bathtub. Put a little more water in there than you usually do and she can practice putting her face in and floating on her front and back. She can put her hands out to the side for security and at most she will float a couple of inches off the bottom. It builds the confidence.

You are so sweet! DD is actually doing great - she is going under water for the first time this summer (with goggles and a nose plug) so I figure this is the perfect time to learn proper strokes and stuff.

Glenn my PTR has become a swimming class !!!:rotfl2:Pat is the instructor and I am the beyond help student :rotfl2:Marv has to be a not so innocent bystander :lmao::lmao:So ya'll fill in what you are in this Swimming extravaganza:banana::banana:
