Wednesday 27th August 2008
We had set the alarm for 7 and were all up showered and dressed for breakfast just before 7.30am. There was no queue for breakfast and we were shown straight to a table. The breakfast offerings were very nice. I had some lovely fresh fruit and some croissants. DD had cereal and bread and Gouda (her favourite cheese!) and DH who by the way is diabetic had some cereal and croissants. We then frogmarched over to the Disneyland Park and were there in time for the 8am opening.
Early Magic Hours were amazing we rushed straight through to Fantasyland and rode Dumbo, Peter Pan, the Carousel, Snow White, Pinnochio and the Carousel again. I was a little disappointed that Its a Small World wasnt open.
We then had a walk through to Discoveryland and went on Buzz Lightyear. DH then went on Space Mountain and DD and I looked in a shop.
We then went over to wait for rope drop at Frontierland so we could get straight on Big Thunder Mountain. About 200 other people had the same idea! We were squashed for 20 minutes and then when the rope dropped we raced round and queued again for the ride. It was great though as we only waited about 10-15 minutes before getting on the ride! DD loved it (its her favourite ride at WDW) and it was great we could all sit together in a row. I knew this would be the first of many rides on Big Thunder before our holiday was over. We walked through to Indiana Jones and DH went on that as it was only a 5 minute wait. We then went round to Pirates of the Caribbean and again it was only a 5 minute wait. We felt quite pleased with ourselves that we had got so many rides done.
We had another look around Fantasyland and DH and DD got a pancake each.
We had another wonder round and took some photos and then decided to get some lunch and go back to the hotel to have a swim. It had got very warm now.
We went to the New York sandwich place in the Village for lunch which was fine.
We got back to the hotel and changed for swimming. It was now a glorious day so I asked if they would be opening the outdoor pool. The girl said Yes, soon so I waited next to it with her for ages, dipping in and out of the pool but kept looking over so she knew I was still waiting. Several others were waiting by the door as well. It seemed such a shame to be indoors with the lovely sun shining outside. Anyway after about 45 minutes they opened up the doors and we sat outside. I sunbathed for a little while and DD and DH played in the pool.
We then went back to the room to shower and change. Tonight was our Princess meal at the Auberge de Cendrillon so I got DD ready in her Cinderella dress. We brought this with us as she ate with Cinderella in the Magic Kingdom in November. Glad I didnt have to buy one in Paris there were a lot more expensive. We walked back over the Park and when we arrived on Main Street we noticed several characters were out. DD hadnt got any autographs in her book yet so was quite excited. We went over expecting to get our turn. Well, I have never seen anything like it. I had read on these boards there was a bit of a scrum but this was ridiculous! My DD is small for her age and extremely polite. She would never push in a queue or be rude to somebody else and here we were pushing her forward to try and let her get a turn. I tried to explain that it was the only way she was going to get an autograph from Pluto. In the end bless her, after I had tried for about 10 minutes to get near the front she burst into tears and just sat on the curb sobbing! I was so cross! I cannot see why you cant just line up to the side of the Character and each get a turn for an autograph or photo. My DH was really angry and went over to City Hall to complain. He was told that people dont like to queue. Clearly that would rather be pushed and shoved instead! Anyway, I explained to my DD that she would be getting plenty of autographs in her book as we were now off to the princess meal and the next day which was her birthday we had the tea party and Café Mickeys booked and on our last night we would be going to the Lucky Nugget Character meal. She felt better at this news and we went round and rode Its a Small World and this really cheered her up. Afterwards we went round Alices Curious Labyrinth and this was great fun. We then had a go at lifting the Sword outside the castle but none of us were lucky and we went down to visit the dragon.
It was now about 7:15pm so we went along to Auberge de Cendrillon for our reservation. When we entered the restaurant we were told by a Cast Member that they were running late and we should go back at 7:45. We went and had a look upstairs in the castle and then just hung about outside the restaurant until that time.
We made our way in and there were several people waiting in the lobby. DD got her picture with Cinderella who was lovely.
We then began the process of waiting . and waiting . and well waiting!! DH is diabetic so we have to be very careful when he eats as he needs to inject 4 times a day and cant do them too closely together. We were also getting annoyed as one lady with her daughter clearly didnt have a table booked but kept going into the restaurant each time she saw a princess so that her daughter could have her picture taken with her. This obviously took the princesses away from those with a table who had paid the cost of the meal! Some people clearly have more nerve than me! Anyway, we went and asked how much longer it would be and by about 8:30pm we were seated. We had a good table right on the dance floor and our server was very helpful. The food in all fairness was very nice and very well presented. There did seem to be a lack of princesses at the meal though and we only saw Suzy and Perla, the two mice from Cinderella, Belle and Sleeping Beauty. We were lucky to have been on the dance floor though as we got to see a lot more of them than those people seated at either end.
When we had finished the meal we stayed for a while as all people booked were not seated. Cinderella came back into the room and danced with all the little girls, our DD being one of them. This was lovely and she spent a long time chatting to my DD and we got some lovely pictures.
It was now about 10pm so we made our way onto Main Street to get a spot for Fantillusion. We had another incident of pushing and shoving but this didn't spoil the lovely parade. We just got braver at pushing back!!!
When it finished we watched the Enchanted Fireworks which were lovely and Candlebration which was cute. We then walked back to the hotel to get some rest as the next day was DDs 7th Birthday !!
