I happened upon this show a few months ago, and have since TIVO'd many of them. I have to say that I'm absolutely astounded by the stories/children profiled on this program. What little monsters. Not only are they spoiled brats, but they're also too stupid to realize that they're being held up for ridicule by the entire country. While watching it, I'm always at odds as to which are worse, the kids or the idiot parents who raised the monsters and are releasing them into society.

They are spoiled pompus little brats and cry and throw fits when they dont get a BMW for their birthdays. I love when they talk about how much their parents have spent "Oh it was only $250,000...

Yeah like you didnt have anything better to spend it on...or donate it to a charity!

so you can imagine my reaction when my 15 year old daughter was watching the show and blurted out "I know that girl, she goes to my school," and then proceeded to idenitfy half of the guests at the party.

That show amazes me. My wedding won't even be as elaborate as most of those parties. Even my sister (who has very expensive tastes ) thinks those parties over the top. As for my "sweet" 16, I had 6 friends over. We went to a hockey game (the Manchester Monarchs), then came home, had cake (homemade) and frozen (virgin) margaritas, then they all slept over and we had pancakes and sausage the next morning. Total cost? A little over $100. And this was only a 3 1/2 years ago

many of the sweet 16's around here are held at catering halls or restaurants and include dining and dancing. but they're not "over the top" like the parties on the show.

Whenever I watch that show I thank god I am not a teenage boy dating one of them.

My DS and I go back and forth on which one was the worst. I voted for the girl from Ocala, she was truly horrid. DS thought the belly dancer was pretty silly. I found the guy, who had the fashion show in a mall, kind of pathetic. It was him smiling into the mirror, with his pudgy face, trying desperately to look like a male model that did it. Just sad.

I agree. This show kind of sucks you in. And at the same time disgusts you. Those children are so ungrateful. I think two of the worse were the one from Palm Beach, FL who threw a fit about the Dunkin Donuts and was a total biotch to her poor mom. And the other girl who had an all pink party, she'd dyed her poodles pink and everything. I swear, if she said "I'm so hot" once more............

I agree the Erie girl was awful. The Dunkin Donut girl was also a piece of work.

I don't really care about the amount of money spent on the parties. Heck, if I could afford it, I'd do it also. What bothers me is the lack of respect most of the kids have for their parents and peers.

I can only think of three kids from that show that never cursed, talked back or disrespected their parents in anyway. Ironically they were all kids who parent's are in the music industry. (LaVert's daughter and Pebbles & LA Reid's son were two of them)

Yeah, I noticed that. I also liked the fact that LaVert kept his daughter from performing and making a grade-A fool out of herself. That girl who will inherit a French chateau treated her parents well, but that was a bit overshadowed by the all the "heiress in training" baloney.

I suspect many of those children will grow up to regret having done that show. I mean there it is, film of you in all your royal bratiness, forever preserved.

watching this reminds me of an indie-movie that came out a few years ago about heirs/heiresses to massive fortunes. one of the "insiders" (who actualy was pursuing a career ) made it so it realy showed the kids in their day to day lives. it was insane and showed just how ungrateful, unrealistic, and unaware the bulk were about their circumstances.

the funny thing is, one of the guys ended up suing (unsuccessfully) after the film came out-he claimed it was slanted to show him in an unflattering manner (um, the words came out of your mouth dude-and they came out over and over again in many different settings).

the sweet 16 that go to me was the one in which the mom had'nt paid the balance of the hall/catering (something like close to 20 grand) by the morning of the event, had maxed out her credit cards, had no money in the bank-yet the brat is still getting her hair and nails done cuz "she'll find it somewhere". apparantly she did-cuz it happened (i'm guessing some STUPID relative or a loan shark stepped in). this was also the one in which the mom ticked off the daughter by getting a wedding like gown to wear with a tiarra (similar to daughters) and dancing like a mad woman with the daughter's date (or maybe hired escort)

with some of them i can see where it's a bsns write off to some extent (when they invite clients, use it to promote a muscial artist...), and with some they just have "money to burn"-but the ones that you know are mortgaging the house, raiding the retirement accounts, ruining any chance for financial security-are just sick, sad idiots being held hostage by the monsters they've created.

p.s.-when dd (11) watched a couple with me, she said "mom, i know you would'nt let me have anything like that-and i would'nt want to. is'nt that enough money to pay for college or a house? would'nt that be better?". yes, my dear it is and it would

Spoiled little rich kids. They all think they are the biggest DIVA's in town. I hope they all sit back and watch the show once it airs. Just to see how they really come across. Hopefully it will change one or two of them, but probably not.

I watch sometimes with my 13 year old son, and tell him to run as fast as he can in the other direction if he sees a girl like that. Unfortunately we do have a few of these types around here- in fact I was just dealing with one the other day over something minor (we were giving out t shirts to the HS seniors, and she'd already picked hers up, she wanted another because "it's not at my house." Well, did you actually get one? "Yes. But it's not at my house." (said with eyes rolling and attitude galore.) It was really the attitude that got me, hard to replicate here, but had she been at least a little nice about it I would've been able to scrounge up another shirt.

Saw her again last night and she had the same attitude about something else, like the rules were for everyone but her. I feel sorry for kids like that, their parents spoil them in the worst sense of the word.

Exactly!!

I've only seen about 5 or so episodes, but in all of those, I've never seen one kid say "Thank you" to the parents for any of the things the parents did. It's just amazing the entitlement mentality these kids have.
