Sweet 16 birthday ideas

My DD is wanting to start planning her sweet 16 which is Aug 7th....OMG my baby is turning 16. Anyways...meltdown over.

We are considering a girls weekend to Disney with her brining a friend but also want to consider things in around home...then she can include more friends. AND disney is really hot in August.

Please help me with some sweet 16 party ideas.

A shopping day in Toronto with a fancy dinner out and a hotel stay?

A spa day?

My daughter's Sweet 16 was Saturday. We had her friends over for a Fondue and movie night. They LOVED the chocolate fondue!

one of my daughter's favourite parties was the one where two of my friends came over - one was a hair stylist, one a manicurist. The 'party' girls had their hair and nails done, then we went out to dinner, then to a concert (Aaron Carter, this was a few years ago). Everyone had fun. I try to plan around what's going on locally, HTH.

Ours turned 16 a year ago today. (OMG, today's her birthday - I'd better hit the mall at lunch!) She tends to be a low-key person and would much rather plan her own things with friends. For her 16th last year, the family activity was Mandarin for supper followed by cake at home. On the weekend she went to a movie with some friends. We went to California last summer which was (a) to celebrate the birthday, and (b) to commemorate our DS18 graduating high school. Although she enjoyed herself once we got out there, she made it quite clear beforehand that she didn't really want to go.

Sorry I can't be much help. I'm not sure whether our kid is a normal 17yo or if she's a changeling.
