:eek:My daughter decided that for her sweet 16 she would like to take 2 or 3 friends to wdw. We will be stayiing at pop, 2 ajoining rooms....
We signed up for the CS dining plan....now the airfair...yikes!
Are we nuts????

I would have loved that and IMO that is way better than spending the money on a huge party. Now as a parent would I love it as much lol prob not but it still will be fun.

I am actually looking forward to it. To top it off, the girls she is taking have never been to WDW.....!!!!! Its going to be like looking at it all over through a child's eye...
Any ideas for a surprise for my daughter down there. Do they do anything special for these things?

Maybe one special sitdown meal, tea at the GF or even a very nice sit down if its in the budget, perhaps Callifornia Grill. Or a fun sitdown such at prime time or Whispering Canyon.

Perhaps if its in the budget, a spa treatment of some type. Maybe just nails for all???

I went for mine and it was nice. It was just my family, but still nice. My mom had surprised me with lunch at the French restaurant because I had just completed my 2nd year of French in High school.

I think its very nice of you to take your daughter and her friends to WDW for her sweet 16! What a wonderful way to celebrate! :goodvibes I agree with the spa treatment if it is in the budget, or maybe a carriage ride at Port Orleans, I've heard they are very nice as well!

The carraige ride isn't expensive either; I think it's $35 for the ride around the resort.(about 25 minutes) and you aren't allowed to tip, so that's the total. I can double check the price, but it isn't more than that.

The carriage ride sounds great. I would also like to have something sent to the room, maybe a special gift.....
I am also planning a dinner one night. She mentioned one of the countries in Epcot, not sure which one yet.
I think I am getting more excited then she is...LOL

Happy Planning! My dd will be 16 in March but asked last year if she could bring some friends on a cruise for her Sweet 16 instead of a party (we live in NY and the parties get CRAZY). I see you are from NJ so probably the same. It seems to me I am hearing more and more girls opting (or their parents opting) to take the girls away instead of parties. I jumped on the idea since it is a vacation for the whole family too but as a BIG planner, must admit, I'll miss all the planning for a Sweet 16 party. She did ask me if we could go in the summer instead of during Easter week since she didn't want to have to think about any school work or upcoming tests LOL I too agreeded to that.

I like the idea of your letting her plan a nice dinner and about special package for them. Don't know what your budget is but you could also look at spa treatments at GF. I originally was going to let me dd and friends go to the spa for treatments but they really would all be getting them done seperately so it kind of defeated the purpose.

Have a great time! I keep telling my kids they are getting married there (I tell my ds that too) but they just don't listen to me

Hey JS. I feel like we know each other. lol My daughter will be 16 March 28, She also decided that she would rather celebrate it in the summer, same reason...no school to worry about. Parties are soooo much money so we did the same thinking,,,vacation for the family, celebration for my daughter all in one. We thought about the spa treatment, a special dinner is a must we can do the whole cake, singing and something extra there. She really wanted to do that "candle lighting" ceremony. Trying to think of a way to do that at home before we go...It will all work out. keep in touch about this we can bounce ideas off ea other.

HAPPY SWEET 16 MICHELLE........WDW 6/29/2010 - 7/5/2010
