Sweater in August?

To you ladies out there.... I'm leaving next week and was wondering if I should carry a light sweater with me to the parks for indoor rides and restaurants? Does anyone find themselves being chilly when going into AC after the extreme heat?

If you're anything like me, yes. Pretty much everywhere is too cold for me when the AC is on. Disney was no exception, even in April. I kept a zip up hoodie with me at all times.

I always hit the parks with a lightweight hoodie rolled up in my DH's backpack. The air conditioning can be downright frigid! o_O

I'm almost always cold in A/C but I do not bring a sweater with me to the parks in August. The less I have to lug around, the better. It's so hot that the cold A/C really is a nice break. The only time it really bugs me is if I'm still wet from a downpour, but even then it doesn't bother me enough to take up valuable bag carrying space. I like as small a bag as possible.

When I go to WDW (or anywhere that has AC), I always bring a light sweater or a lightweight summer scarf, because my arms can get chilly. I especially like the scarf, because it works as an accessory to tie an outfit together, and if it gets too hot, where it's uncomfortable around my neck, I can just tie it on my purse. It weighs less than a sweater. It's just enough to keep the chill off my arms, and breeze off my neck, if I need it. I'm actually hot most of the time, but air conditioning can get to me.

We got back on Tuesday, and we had sweatshirts with us from the plane ride. I can tell you, on several evenings we never even changed out of our tanktops. It was incredibly hot and humid. Only once were we ever chilly.

My wife is tiny and has poor circulation, so I carry something light for her in my backpack but she rarely asks for it. But she is always glad that it is there, just in case - and she always uses it a few times, even in September.

It's so hot that time of year I can't even imagine carrying a sweater or hoodie around. And I'm one who brings one to restaurants in the summer at home.

Nope. In August, it's HOT, & the ac will feel good. I live in South Louisiana, we have similar weather here as in Disney. I never need a sweater at home in August nor at Disney.

I would. The busses are freezing and you just never know about other places.

If you are anything like my wife, you should bring a sweater and a parka unless vacationing in the middle of an active volcano.

I thought we were doing just that, a couple of days last week :-)

A lot of places we found the AC not nearly as cool as in past years.

We usually go to Disney in June and I do find the a/c to be a little chilly some places but I don't carry a sweater with me (but I do at home). Actually, we don't really carry *anything* to the parks with us that doesn't fit in our pockets I'm willing to suffer and be a little chilly for a short amount of time rather than to sweat even more in the heat because I'm lugging a bag of stuff around the parks.

Thank you all so much for the replies! I think I might carry a light sweater the first day and see how it goes after that. I hate the feeling in the summer of going into A/C and feeling cold. The worst is the supermarket!

If you ever get chilly in air conditioned places--yes! I have given up wearing short sleeves or tank tops in the summer or at Disney. We were just there in June and I wore long sleeves and sweatshirts daily--all day-- because I am always cold on the rides, in the restaurants, and in the resort. Yes the jokes got old but I was comfortable:-)

Never in August and I'm generally cold all the time.
I'm here now. It's HOT! Even in the middle of the night.

If it's super hot - close to or over 100, you'll likely not need a sweater. The AC has a hard time cooling at those temps and it will unlikely get refrigerator cold anywhere.

If space is an issue and you're ok with the look, a pair of bicycling sleeves would do the trick. You can get them in white or black and they roll up real small. Sometimes just having a sleeve on bare arms is enough to be comfortable.
