swapping items in or out with Dining Plan

I have read here as well as other places that you can now swap out a QS credit for 3 snacks and also that you can swap the TS dessert for a soup or salad. My question is can you do the same with the drink? I.e can you get say a salad, entree and dessert and then pay oop for say a beer as your drink? That would be great for me as I like to sample the different beers from WS and since that is where we will be eating a lot that kind of makes the soda kind of redundant.

What you're reading is all pretty much anecdotal and may not be the experience of everyone. If you look on this sub-forum, you'll see a thread from someone today (May 17) that tried the QS to 3 snacks swap, and couldn't do it. This is not written into the DDP brochure, so it is hit or miss. Your best bet is your resort QS location, but it never hurts to ask anywhere you are that you wish to do so. Just know that they can and do say no.

As to the TS swap, it's only the desserts, and even that is not a guarantee. The restaurant gets to choose if they want to do the swap, and they get to choose what you get for it. Usually it is a side salad or a cup of soup or a vegetable; it is not something else on the menu.

Sounds pretty hit or miss. It is odd though that they are still refusing the 3 snack for 1 QS part though as I just read that that is official on their own site. Hopefully more will be sorted out by the time I go in December. I have never done the DP before but was able to snag free dining at BG for myself, wife and daughter so i figured I would grab it. Next thing I need to figure out is where I can view my pin number they assigned to my magic bands last time I was there as I have forgotten it. I assume that will be needed for using the DP?

I saw it on the explanation of the DDP that is linked when you go to Allears and then click on the link for DDP explanation. The link brings you to the Disney site and a page that looks like it is a brosure for the plan. It is part of the Disney site at least according to the web address.

The only thing in the brochure is that you can substitute your dessert and/or your non alcoholic drink for an additional snack. It doesn't actually state that you can use your CS meal credit as 3 snack credits.

I have read that brochure a bunch of times because I have the DDP and am on the fence about keeping it because I want to use my CS credits as 3 snacks for F&W. People have reported that they have done it but there really isn't anything official.

At 90% of locations, you won't have a problem, so if I wanted to do it, I would definitely ask. Just don't get angry or surprised if you happen to choose a location that doesn't do it. And as I describe below, ALL THREE snacks need to be at least $6 to get the full value of that QS credit. Of course, if you have free dining, that may not matter.

People did do this last year and others have reported having no problem doing it with the Flower & Garden kiosks, so this one is a pretty safe bet, but of course not guaranteed. If it helps you at all, the only way it makes sense to use your QS for 3 snacks is if ALL THREE snacks are at least $6. Dip under that $6 even on one of them, and you're losing value for your adult QS credits.

I just took another look and I must say I stand corrected. I could have sworn I saw the info on the snack switch in the Disney link but you are correct that it is in the allears part not the Disney part. I appologize to all for any confusion I may have caused.

My mom had a CS credit left on our last day and we were at Big Top Souvenirs in MK she went up to the CM and asked if she could exchange a CS credit for snacks. She was informed that yes she can and could get up to 3 snacks, but needed to be all in the same transaction. So from our personal experience yes it worked.

Yes, but only at a counter service restaurant. You cannot swap out the drink at a table service restaurant.

You get an entree and 2 SNACKS. If the sides happen to be snacks, then yes, you get 2 sides. That's not always the case. In fact, the majority of QS locations only have other drinks on their snack list. So, peruse the menus and find the places that have the snack swaps you WANT.

Allears has the purple ddp logo next to items that are snack credit eligible on many of the QS menus so that's one place to start.

There is also the snack credit thread sticky at the top of this forum that has items listed as of the last time it was updated in 2014. There have been additions since then, but it will give you a general idea.

It should work, but there have been reports that they are NOT letting people sub for the pulled pork fries. They will let you sub for a regular fry and/or onion ring. However, I'd be inclined to have the DDP brochure with me and push for the pork fries. This is one change that is actually written into the brochure, so they should honor it.

I have a friend going on the DxDDP. She has too many dining credits as she just cancelled a ressie to do a dessert party. Can she swap this for 3 snacks to bring home if she buys them all together? Can someone give some good suggestions on where she could do this if possible? She would like to get 3 bags of candy (the goofy's candy company ones). Will the DxDDP differentiate between CS or TS as I know she can switch a CS for 3 snacks and it says with the dxddp they can do TS or CS for any meal.

She should be able to. Goofy's is one of the places where people have done the QS to 3 snacks. It shouldn't matter that it is DxDDP. I know getting the 3 snacks is better than nothing, but doing this swap with a DxDDP credit is a LOUSY value. That credit is "worth" about $33. Can she not fit in a breakfast or lunch somewhere?
