Swapping dessert for anything in 2018?

Has anyone had experience this year with swapping out the desserts for anything else on the menu?

Are you asking about the statement on the Dining Plan brochure that says at TS restaurants where you order from a menu you can:
*Ask your server about potential substitutions, but substitutions are not guaranteed. You will have to ask at each restaurant, but not all restaurants will allow a substitution and at the ones that do it will be something they have chosen in advance. Most often it has been a cup of soup, a small side salad or a veggie side dish. You will not be able to choose an appetizer from the menu.

Yes, that was what worked last year. I was hoping for some actual 2018 experiences.

Sorry, I think everyone is focused on what alcoholic drinks you get.

Unfortunately, this "substitution" is just so haphazard that I think people either quit asking or quit reporting. Even if one person was allowed some kind of substitution at said restaurant, someone else would say they were not.

Let's not kid - the alcohol is a very interesting and important discussion! The dessert was the killer for us a few years ago - once we could swap to a soup or salad, it made a difference in our decision to go DDP.

We were allowed to do this at Skipper’s for half a soup or salad (essentially a cup of soup instead of bowl, and small side salad). That was the only place we asked.

Sorry, but WHY would you skip dessert at Skipper's???? That Kungaloosh is one of the best desserts I have ever tasted!!!

We had a dessert party an hour later lol. Only one in our party ended up getting soup. I did have the kungaloosh but thought it was only ok. The brownie/cake part was quite tough. Ice cream was delicious though.

My brownie/cake was soft, moist, and melted in with the ice cream. Sorry yours was not.

I’m confused. I thought desserts were no longer included on the 2018 plan bc you now get 2 snacks? I would love to be wrong!

Dessert is no longer included with a QS meal, but you still get one at TS. Some people would prefer to have something other than a dessert with their TS meal too.
