Swan wedding - Alt. Musician options?

a bummer that Swan quote doesn't include a musician like Disney intimate wedding...
and it's almost $600 for just ONE musician for ONE hour

we really like to get atleast a violinist during our ceremony. anyone know if we can get someone else cheaper in town?

correction: $535 for 1hr of ..harp, violin, keyboard, flute, or guitar.
string or flute trio is $575 though hm...

I am in the same boat as you Groomtb. I am very Irish and so is my family and I would love nothing more than to do bagpipes for our ceremony, but I'm not sure where to hire someone to do it, since it isnt included in the list from my wedding coordinator. Any ideas?

funny how my answer to you Jesshooper, might have answered my own question..

having realized that justymarry coordinator will do researches for you (likely after contracts are signed of course). you should have them do the work for you and research where to get a bagpiper for the event.

I guess I'll try the suggestion of negotiating with my coordinator about the price for the violinist...maybe cut it in half for just 30mins lol

The find a musician link is under construction but the Find a Band link has a list. You can also call their office as I'm sure they would be happy to help connect you to someone. You could also try contacting a music coordinator at an area church, call a college music department or another school.

wow that is pretty pricey!
i didn't have live music..my dj played music for us.
you could definately do a google search for musicians in orlando!
i had also found this one gal who sang at weddings..she sent me her demo tape-she was great and her prices were too..we didn't end up using her..should have kept her info though.

honestly? contact the local pubic high school music teachers (in celebration, lake buena vista, dr. philips, etc). There are always talented teenage musicians, and music teachers often have a small select group or can put one together. They would probably do it around an hour or 2 for $100. Public school music programs are often underfunded and the kids are happy to do it for the experience. when i was in hs, I was in a select girls choir and we sang at 2 or 3 company christmas parties every year.. we needed the money to buy new music and dresses!

wow thanks for the tips about finding local musicians at schools!! thoughts about that rushed in my head lol...it'll be like spectacular if I can send them some violin scores or cd to practice and play at our wedding....

on the other hand...wonder if we can bring a nice stereo system and make custom cd to playback at our wedding...creates that background music atmospehere...

I think the swan has a sound system you can use. That was a option we had considered. But by the time we priced it out it was very close to what we paid for our dj..who played exactly the music we wanted him to play!
