I was talking to some co-workers recently telling them about our wedding at the Swan in June and that we are also staying there. One of the women told me to be careful because the rooms have some type of temperature control and that it stays extremely warm in the rooms. Can anyone who has recently stayed there tell me if this is true? She said she stayed there in July. I'm a bit concerned as I have very curly, thick hair and it refuses to dry and gets frizzy when it is hot and we have a beautician coming to do our hair in my room the day of the wedding. Are there specific areas that get hotter than others (due to the sun and things)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know theie is a temperature thing in the room that is motion activated. It gets stuffy when you are not in the room. As soon as you enter the room it goes on to the temp. you have selected. My dh was trying to figure out where it was.

It's a motion sensor thing and I don't know where it it. It's supposed to save energy when you're not there. We stayed there and had no trouble after we realized what was going on. At first, DH was concerned that the air was broken, but it cooled down quickly.

Have a great time!

No need to worry... with all of the activity of pre wedding stuff that air will be blowing all over the place!! The only thing is you cannot have the sliding door open to the balcony... the air shuts off when it is open. This is something they are putting into alot of the resorts now... it is a motion control sensor that automatically keeps the room at the temperature you set it for. I was at the dolphin in august and I was never warm... AND I was alone in the room and still didn't have a problem! Don't fret.. all will be great!

Congrats on your wedding!! Make sure to post your pics here afterwards!

We stayed there three times and on one trip we had 3 balcony rooms. We were told if the door is not closed all the way and I mean all the way the air conditioner will stop. I don't know if this is what you mean but in one of the kids room it was pretty stuffy and when we went in their room my DH closed the door as hard as he could eventhough the kids thought it was all the way closed and then the air conditioner came on.
Go figure..

I stayed at the Swan in May of 2003, and found the sensors to be motion-activated (not body heat activated like at many other hotels that do this). Thus, if you were not moving around (i.e., watching TV, SLEEPING, etc.), the air would turn off. My DH and I would literally have to take turns sitting up in bed and waving our arms in the air in the middle of the night to get the air to turn back on. For this very reason, I will never stay at the Swan (and I would assume the Dolphin) ever again.

Sorry for the bad news, but hope this helps.

We stayed at the Swan this past July and had no problem with the air whatsoever. If anything it got too cold in there. When we were gone at the parks, the air would shut off. It only took a few minutes to cool off when we returned. The a/c controls has both a temp knob and a fan knob, so crank them both. We never had the air turning off in the middle of the night. If that happens, ask to switch rooms. I would also recommend a king room since it's your honeymoon. Enjoy the Swan. It is a great place.

First, congratulations on your wedding. What a beautiful place to have the ceremony. Okay, I too have dark curly hair...same problems as you have. I usually blow mine out straight but that can cause problems in humidity as you know. We stayed at the Swan over Thanksgiving and had absolutely no problems like this. You can adjust the heat/air. Yes, I said heat. We had to use it during our trip. You'll love the Swan - we did!

We have stayed at the Swan several times. Actually saw a wedding there last June. It was beautiful. The trick is to simply keeping your door closed and the slider closed. Makes sense if AC is running. We never had a problem and loved the location and hotel. Great pool, restaurants and staff. We would be going this year if rates were lower but so far I don't think there are any discounts. We booked WL in March so I hope we like it. Best Wishes.

I had 2 rooms at the Swan during our stay in August and had no problem with the a/c whatsoever in either room.

Thanks to all. Guess DD and I will just stay in the room moving around a bit the day of the ceremony so that it doesn't get too hot and stuffy (think I'll be a little nervous to be sitting still anyway! lol) :bounce:  :Pinkbounc
