I tried posting this on the S/D thread but got no response. I thought I would try the whole board.

We are leaving for the Swan in a few months and we are on the Club Level. I paid for it as I wanted the little bit of extra luxury and the ease of a quick breakfast in the morning. I really want a balcony room with a fireworks view but I've been reading lately that this is no longer allowed. Is it true that if you stay on Club Level that you MUST be on the Club floors? Anyone have any recent experiences with this issue?

Thanks,

Joanne

I can only try to help by explaining my mixed experiences.

Last trip, like you, I wanted the best of both worlds--balcony and Club privileges. I asked about keeping my balcony room and, at the same time, getting Club access.

I was told "Well, they don't like us to do that anymore, but..." and Club Access was added to my balcony room.

Now, I have a trip planned in a few days (YAHOO!). This time we are staying in an Executive Suite.
When I asked about using my SPG points for Club access, (asking if there were Exec Suites on the Club Floor), I was told "Check with the resort 5 days prior to your stay. If there is nothing comparable available on that floor, we will add the Club access to your current room reservation".

I specificially then asked "So you will add Club Access to my room on another floor? I thought you weren't doing that, any longer?"

She said, "If we can't get you a similar room on the Club floor, yes, we will add Club Access to your current room"

So, there you have it--a tale of two tales.

Guess I'll find out in a few days when I call to add it!

Thanks for your reply. Let me know how it works out!

I feel that since I am paying for Club access that I should be allowed to essentially downgrade the room from club floor to balcony. Maybe I am way off base here or am expecting too much.

It seems like hit or miss with what the CM's will allow and won't allow.

I did it last June, but am also confused as to their new "rule". I hope you get the room you want! We were in the east wing with the highest balcony facing epcot, closest to the bridge, and loved it!
Please let us know what happens with your reservation once you get there!
