Just to pass on. I registered a while back to recieve email recipe postcards from the Swan and Dolphin. i must have done it at their site. Anyway, the one I just recieved has an offer for a rate of 139 a night with a 50 dollar food credit. It seems to be valid thru Sept and you must stay 2 consecutive nights. Could be worth a shot for those that don't qualify for teacher /nurse discounts.

Where did you sign up for email from the Swan? Can you give us more info? Thanks!

I'm confused - what kind of postcard. I looked on the website but I couldn't figure out how to send a post card. HELP _I wanted to sign my brother up.:Pinkbounc

I'm signed up and didn't receive this postcard. I'm staying at the swan 9/19-9/21 and could really use it. I wonder if only specific people received this one?

Just call the swan and tell them you want to switch to the postcard receipt discount. I just booked it today. Seems to good to be true. good luck:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I just got the same recipe postcard. It is a great deal! Sherry

This might be a silly question.., but does anyone know.., is the $50 food credit per night/per room? That would equal $89/night for the room plus a free dinner! That's a great deal.., please someone let me know so I can re-book if that is the case. Currently, I am booked at the Teacher rate of $129/night.

Thanks in advance!

I just called the Swan to try and switch to the post card rate and was told that it is unavailable for my dates 9/17-9/21. She said that they are having a big convention there that week and are already over 90% booked. YIKES!!!!!!

She did tell me that the rate was available until 9/14 and was not available again until 9/24.

Here is what I was told. For every 2 nites of your stay you get 50.00 in food vouchers. We are staying 7 nites and getting 150.00 in vouchers. The room rate is 139.00 a nite.
The vouchers are good for any eating place except Shula's.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I received the same information - I'm glad it was just like the information you were told because I was alittle afraid the book it, seemed too good to be true.

This may very well be ignorant of me, but....

My family booked the Swan through a TA ~ we have the dream maker package, June 25-30, 2003.

I wouldn't be able to do any "switching" of rates, since I used a TA, right?
That credit for food is incredible w/the postcard! (The way my teenagers eat....)

Since booking the trip, I found this website and have learned so much that I'm kicking myself in the butt for using the TA!!!! (No offense to any TAs out there ~ I went to school for travel & could be one myself ;) ) I've already started planning our next trip ~ with the help of this board.

Anybody have any comments out there? Should I call the Swan and see if I could apply the postcard rate just for the heck of it?

I would definately call my TA first and then call the hotel. It doesn't hurt to try. Let us know how you make out.

I'll start w/the TA.

Keeping my fingers crossed ~ I'll let you know how I make out.

Not knowing how TA's work, can you cancel the TA trip and rebook yourself? Let us know what she/he says.

workin4vacation - is package your TA booked though Disney or through S/D? That will make a big difference. Also this rate code is only available to "recipe club members" and it maybe that the properties consider it a "direct consumer offer" and therefore no TA commission. It maybe this rate is only bookable directly by you.

Is your package with your TA paid in full? Are you under any cancellation penalties if you were to cancel it? Is the savings on the room rate alone make it worth booking it separately from the other elements of the package? These are all things to consider...

I'm on the same reciepe thing and I got a different postcard?

Mine is for the "holiday specials" staying for 4th of july weekend and / or labor day weekends 3 nites at 169.00 and get the 4th nite free. Anyone else get this postcard? ;)

Not using the postcard, cause going in august and Nov / dec.

MKY :D

o.k. I called the travel agent ~ Liberty Travel.

The TA made some phone calls and got back to me.

TA ended up calling the Swan directly. The Swan told her that there was limited availability for the postcard deal and there were no longer any rooms available for my days of travel. Of course, this kind of stuff happens to me all the time! We're just missing the fairy tale package too! :(

Oh, well, I guess nothing ventured, nothing gained. (But it stinks to learn about deals only to be disappointed time & again).

I'm still going to Disney & staying at the Swan

:Pinkbounc and can not wait to escape this rain! :Pinkbounc

Hookedup: Our package is paid in full. We did the total flight, hotel & tickets dream maker package. No way I could re-book the flights and afford to go now! Thanks luvdisney, ozziewags, hookedup & others for your helpful responses!
