i was able to get into the swan using a aaa discount. the kids want to go to a place with a really cool pool (two girls age 11).

they wanted to go to the nick hotel. which do you think they would like better? we (the adults) want the swan.

I don't know what the Nick hotel pool is like but the Swan has a waterfall, a small water slide, a small lazy river area. It's really a great pool.

They also had a big kind of patio area where there was an animator entertaining the kids playing games near the pool, a basketball court, a ping pong table, swan paddle boats in the little lake near the pool, etc.

What I thought was nice touch, since we went in July and it was SWELTERING were the large spray mist fans around the pool area to keep the sunbathers a little cooler.

The Swan and Dolphin and absolutely beautiful hotels. For the parents, I don't think you can go wrong, but I don't think the kids would complain either. We plan on staying their again in January, we loved it so much

Good luck with your decision!

what a stunning recomendation sandyrella. it sounds spectacular. i'm going to book it. thanks for the fast reply.

Great pictures Goofy4!

I just took a look at the Nick pool and WOW! I can see why the 11 y/o's would want to stay there. With that said, sensory overload comes to mind. It looks like it would be very crowded for the most part. It might be fun for a couple of days but anything more (for me anyways) would be too much. I'm sure that my own DS 11 would beg to differ. :confused3 . The good part about the Swan pool is that it does have a lot to offer the kids but the parents get to "relax" while the kids are having fun. It is a very tropical yet festive setting so it feels like you could be on an island somewhere. There is music playing to enhance the island mood.

We stayed a the Swan two weeks ago and our kids LOVED the pool area! Our DD is 10, our DS and his buddy are 16 and 17, and our nephews are 9 and 12. Every one of them loved it! The area is pretty sprawling, and the kids loved exploring and finding thier own spaces to play. They really loved hanging our behind the waterfalls!:thumbsup2

We have stayed at both the Nick Hotel and the Swan/Dolphin. My kids ABSOLUTELY preferred the Nick Hotel. The pool complex is amazing. And it was a blast for all of us adults too (we felt like kids again!). My kids are 11 and 8. Nick also had 'slime time' where everyone can get slimed (green tinted water) at the pool every night. The rooms were great too, since the kids had their own room and space to hang out, a little kitchenette and a separate bedroom for us.

All that said, my kids enjoyed the pool at the Swan, but they enjoy the pools at every hotel.

If it is a vacation all about the kids, Nick Hotel has it all over Swan. If you are looking to please the adults more, then I recommend the Swan (nicer hotel overall with more food options and the boardwalk nearby is a big plus).

The Nick is just one of those hotels I think everyone should try once with their kids. You will all play together and it is so much fun. It is so large that we never felt crowded. Maybe you could split your stay?
