DH just told me that I could plan a Disney trip for next year! The last time we were there (2001) we stayed at the YC with one of those really great postcard rates. We loved the area, but the regular YC rates are a little too steep for us. Someone suggested the Swan/Dolphin since dh is a goverment worker. I know that the Swan has queen beds and the Dolphin has doubles, but other than that are there any differences? Are the room sizes the same? Is either one closer to the grotto pool? Since we are not going until 2004 I don't think the renovations will effect us. I read that the Dolphin will be renovated by then so that shouldn't be an issue. Also, are the Dolphin rates lower now because of the renovations or are they always lower? Sorry for all these questions on a trip so far away - I am just so excited, I wish I could book my room today! Thanks so much!

Welcome  DisneyFanatik

The Dolphin rates are lower right now b/c it is undergoing the renovations. Once complete, the rates will probably go up.

The Swan is slightly smaller resort and a tad more sedate. The Dolphin is larger and the lobby is bigger. The Dolphin houses Tubbi's, the laundry, the soda fountain, the spa and exercise room as well as restaurants. The Swan houses restaurants but if want a food court type you must go over to Tubbi's.

The Dolphin is slightly closer to the grotto pool.

Dolphin rooms are slightly larger.

If you are staying with young children, I would recommend the Dolphin for the convenience of Tubbi's and other amenities.
