Swan or Dolphin

which do you prefer? Why?

I prefer the Swan. The smaller hotel seems to provide better service. I've stayed at both the Swan and Dolphin multiple times. In the Dolphin I've noticed a lack of attention by housekeeping to the cleanliness of the common area, especially the hallways. On a couple of stays at the Dolphin we walked by the same pile of crushed crackers several days. Nothing like that has every happened to us at the Swan.

I also prefer the Swan. Queen beds are nicer to me, and the Swan was just renovated! It's quieter, and I also like the smaller size of it compared to the Dolphin.

I have only stayed at the Swan, but over many stays over multiple years, the place is just great.

The dolphin doesn't appeal to me with the lack of queen sized beds, nor the way the floors are set up. I get just plain lost in there and that's only visiting. It's just too large for me. We also had a corner room on our last stay there so we had one side with the boardwalk/crescent lake view and the other side watched the dock for the friendship boats between the swan and dolphin. Hours of amusement for my husband watching the boats.

Yes it does. I also prefer the Swan, but like the Dolphin enough that I would stay at whichever one was less money when I was going.

Just stayed at the Dolphin and it was nice and fine for our purposes. We were lucky, though, that there was only two small conferences going on (one I only saw proof of in writing) and I would imagine a very large or multiple conferences would make life there pretty difficult. I tried to search online for conferences there on our dates and ended up not finding the one that we did see using the lobby for cocktails one evening (no big deal). It is big and a tad confusing your first day. The Swan sounds pretty appealing in this respect. Great restaurants and bar at the Dolphin, though.

Another vote for the Swan. I like having a bathroom sink in the bathroom, and there's another sink outside it. The buses stop at the Swan before they go to the Dolphin, and the Swan is also closer to the Boardwalk.
