Considering a very last minute weekend trip in a couple weeks. We can stay at CSR or the Swan for the same price. Which would u pick and why? We will not be there to take advantage of the evening hours so that doesn't factor into the decision for this trip. Our main objective is to ride GOG CR since it wasnt open when we last visited. We have never stayed at either resort. TIA for the suggestions.

Are you taking into account the $40 (!) resort fee at the Swan?

We have stayed at both CSR and the Swan more than once. Since your primary goal is Cosmic Rewind, the Swan is the obvious choice. This puts you within walking distance of Epcot. (You also can take a Friendship boat.)

I agree with @Nabas - stay at the Swan so that you can walk or boat to Epcot. You'll also have walking access to all the restaurants in the Epcot area resorts (Boardwalk, Yacht, Beach as well as Swan and Dolphin) and in Epcot itself, not to mention Skyliner access to Topolino's at Riviera, if you're interested in dining opportunities.

Stayed at both. The international gateway is quite a hike from the GOG (Swan) The quicker route at rope drop would be from the main gate (CSR) So I fail to see the benefit of Swan location wise. We like the night life at Boardwalk and Beaches and Cream (Swan) Coronado has some great dining options. So maybe you’d be better using the CSR entrance into Epcot as opposed to Swan at the opposite end of the park… Either choice is a great win. Just make sure you’re there at least 45 minutes before rope drop

Not having to deal with Disney buses, especially at theme park opening and closing, is a tremendous advantage.

I'd much rather take the long walk back to the Swan than wait in a really long line just to pack onto a crowded bus.

I'll be the voice of dissent and say CSR. But that's because after a couple of really bad experiences in other locations, you couldn't pay me to stay at a Marriott property.

CSR is quieter, sprawling, pretty and offers good dining options, including in GD tower. Most of the rooms (except for the tower) have an exterior door. Parking your car fairly near your room is often doable. The CSR bus goes directly to the MK depot. The multiple bus stops at CSR do slow down all of the bus shuttles. The resort itself is more kid-friendly, IMO, especially the main pool area. Note that currently, you may ride GotG with ILL$ or a VQ boarding group, so unless you want to ride multiple times, you won't necessarily need to rope drop it. If you want to enjoy relaxing resort day(s), will have school age kids (or younger) in your group, or your priority theme park will be MK, I'd choose CSR.

Swan has interior hallways and it's often a longer walk through the parking lot to your car. The Swan bus to MK drops you off at the TTC and you need to monorail or ferry to MK, which is time consuming as well. However, it's so easy to walk or boat to either Epcot or DHS from the Swan. There's a lot of activity in the Crescent Lake area around the Swan. If you want to be in the middle of the action, or you enjoy a lot of evening activities, or your overall priority park(s) will be Epcot and/or DHS, I'd choose the Swan. Have fun!

We have a similar decision to make between CSR and Dolphin for October. Unless Disney offers some fall discounts soon, which isn't looking promising, we'll go with Dolphin.

Following along just because I find this an interesting question. I think I might lean toward Swan for the easy walk/boat to 2 parks, and because I happen to enjoy the whole Crescent Lake area. I always hear that CSR is nice, but I just never book where I'm limited to transportation by bus.

I love CSR but we stayed at Yacht and rope dropped Remy before the line got insane . We got a boarding group for GOTG . I love the international gateway entrance . So my choice is Swan just to get to Remy at rope drop .

I have stayed at both (currently 6 days into 10 day stay at CSR). I would not stay at the Swan again, even with all the afore-mentioned benefits, but we all have different priorities.

For me the Swan was like any other hotel in any other town/city. I did not feel I was in Disney, and that's not for us.

Of you aren’t spending time at the resort, then Swan. If you plan on being at the hotel for a bit, CSR.

I just booked Dolphin for an impulse trip during Labor Day weekend. We just want to do Food and Wine and Guardians, so for us being close to what we want makes the most sense. We are only sleeping at the hotel so the theming or ambience has to weight on our decision.

Besides, you can’t rope drop Guardians right now with the VQ in place, so I don’t see being dropped off at the front to be any sort of perk. If you wanted to rope drop Remy, however, the Swan is the obvious choice because you get Early Entry and will be able to be right at the front of the crowd for that attraction.

We just stayed at the Swan for three nights (got home yesterday). While the room was clean, we would never stay there again because the food options there were terrible- we had to do grub hub because the food there was that bad. The only good meal we had during our stay was at Flying Fish at the boardwalk. We also did not like the pool situation- no lifeguards so it was a lot of water football throwing , couldn’t get away from it. And the pretty waterfall they advertise to show how nice their pool is had been broken since March. The MK bus drops you off at TTC - very annoying. And like Nurse Jackie mentioned, no Disney theming made us feel like we were in a hotel anywhere , not at Disney. I’d pass on the Swan.

Not sure why you found the food options so inadequate….Swan has Il Mulino,Kimonos, Garden Grove, and Java for quick service. Dolphin has Blue Zoo, Shula’s, Fountain and Fresh for more casual dining, and Fuel and Picabu for quick service. Dolphin is a quick walk from the Swan. Additionally, you have easy access to all of the dining options at the Boardwalk, and Yacht and Beach Club. We’ve eaten at most of the options, and have had good experiences. As two adults, we love staying at the Swan/Dolphin, and the great variety of places to eat is part of the experience.
