today, i just so happen to receive my membership for the SPG. we stayed at a sheraton hotel a few weeks ago for a wedding. i didn't think that with us staying at a sheraton for one night would get me a membership. go figure. anyway, do i get credit for booking a room at a sheraton or sheraton related hotel?

The Dolphin is a Sheraton. If you signed up for spg during your Sheraton stay a few weeks ago, then you are a member. Make sure you got a membership card and not just an application to apply for one.

We love the Swan! I suggest that you add a request for an Epcot view in your ressie info. We have been bumped from a standard to a water/resort view both times because of SPG status. Also, if you request 6th floor or above, you might see the fireworks from Epcot or MGM--depending on what room you are assigned. I called the Swan to confirm last time and talked to a very nice lady who added my requests. Of course, she did say that it is just a request. It doesn't hurt to ask nicely!

SPG cards can be used at all the Starwood hotels, which include Sheraton (including Four Points), Westin, St.Regis, or W hotels. Technically I think the Swan is managed by Westin and the Dolphin by Sheraton.

yes--well, you have to actually stay there to get the credit, I think, LOL...

The Starwood properties are Westin, Sheraton, W Hotels, and Sheraton Four Points. I think that's all.

I would call the Swan directly just to make sure that your SPG membership is listed on your ressie. The SPG confirmation# for your stay will be different fron the Swan's conf. # for your stay.

Don't call Disney about the Swan or Dolphin, they're not Disney resorts. Call the resort directly.

Don't forget to request the turndown service. A little caution, if you do request the service, take all your stuff off the bed before you leave the room, we left the newspaper on the bed and my dh forgot he threw his credit card on that pile too, actually in the paper, the very efficient housekeeper threw out my dh credit card along with the newspaper, we have learned our lessson. Try a restraunt at the resort, Palio smells heavenly. Hopefully we will try it on our next trip.

You could, but I think there's a number that you can call from your room. I've never done it since we have two kids with unpredictable bedtimes.

Palio's is probably the best Italian food in the WDW area.

If you like steak, Shulas is good - but both can be pricey.

We are also going 10/7 -10/14. Very interested in the Swan as wife is a Nurse and they offer great rates. I heard and read they are renovating upper floors so be carefull where you are located. Swan is suppose to be better then Dolphin due to 2 queens instead of two fulls.

You will love the Swan!! We stayed there for the first time last summer and as you can see we are going back in 24 days!!!! I can't wait, I'm getting so excited.
My DH and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniv. last year and they surprised us with a grand suite!!!! Upon our arrival we had a knock at the door and there was room service with chilled champagne and chocolate covered strawberries!!
Every morning when I opened the blinds I could see Spaceship Earth and we watched Illuminations every night, if we weren't there in the park, on one of our 3 balconies!!! They really went all out for us and I didn't even ask for it. Our teenage boys had their own room with their own bathroom!!!!
I prefer the Swan because it is smaller than the Dolphin and not as crowded and not as much noise. The Dolphin is great, don't get me wrong, but there is alot to do at the Dolphin and I think it's more for the younger crowd or for those that prefer alot of action. I'M the more quiet and intimate type....
As far as the Disney buses, as another poster said the Swan is the first stop, then the Dolphin and then the Boardwalk. When we're in the parks and really want to get back to our hotel if the Boardwalk bus comes first we'll take that too and just walk becaUse it's not that far of a walk. We've even found that walking from the Swan to Epcot is faster than the boat. It's a very nice scenic walk and not long at all.
The staff are all very nice and if your staying club level like we did, Thabo and Maria are great!!!!

We love the Swan and this past visit my husband and I ate at bluezoo in the Dolphin. To say it was excellent is an understatement. It may be a shock to some wallets but we found it no pricier than eating out at a nice restaurant here at home.
We are also huge fans of the heavenly beds! One helpful hint is when using the shower don't shut the door all the way because the steam takes forever to go away.

It's funny, my DH and I want to try BlueZoo this year as we didn't last year and I see it's a bit pricey but then so are alot of restaurants in Disney.
Any recommendations on what to or not to order?
