$244 for double occupancy and she sounded like I should be grateful for it. No entertainment book or Disney Club discounts available. She not very nicely informed me that AAA was the same as DC. Are these rooms really worth that much?

I would never pay that for there! For that kind of money you can stay at Disney's Deluxe. Look on this site & Mary Warings for any discounts during your time frame......

We stayed at the Swan in June, 2001 and we absolutely LOVED the hotel! The location can't be beat; transportation was wonderful, and the CMs were so nice! I would highly recommend the Swan!!
However, in my opinion, I do not think it was worth $200/night. (We got the government employee discount - $119/night).

When were you going? AAA rates are pretty good during value season, I've seen on the internet less than $200 - if they are available. If it's peak season, I'm not sure.

We are going end of September. She told me no Disney Club, Entertainment Book or AAA discounts were available. This was a special rate for conference. She got real snitty when I said I've heard of much better rates. She said something like "These are $280 a night rooms you know."

Discounts of 50% off the rack rate (AP, DC, Entertainment) and the $149 teacher/nurse/government rates aren't available at all times. I don't know if you can get a lower rate there for the end of September, but the reservation agent should not have gotten snippy with you!

That's is surprising for that time of the year, however there is a very good possibility that they may be almost sold out because of conventions that may be going on. Even if you have the Entertainment card if the hotel is more than 80% sold you still couldn't get that discount.

They must be very busy then. I would call back again anyway especially if the CM gave you attitude, there are too many nice CMs there for one to have a chip on her shoulder like that. (& for you to get stuck with that one)

If you go to the top of this web site and click on "S&D resort info" you'll be able to enter the date of your trip and they ask for any discount stuff(you'll have to chose which resort first...Swan or Dolphin). When I enter the Magic Kingdom Club Card(for discount) it calculates a rate of $182.00 (tax included). Now I have never actually gone to the very end and booked the room with a credit card but it says the room is available to be booked. This is for June 13-19. Good Luck!

It is very possible that you may be able to get a better discounted rate by going to Dreams Unlimited I do not know the ins and outs of this but there are times they can get the discounts even when the hotel says they are not available.

Also are you sure you were talking to reservations at the Swan and Dolphin or could you have been talking to Starwwod Reservations? Sometimes the resort has deals that corporate does not know about.

Good luck, I hope you find a good rate...

Thanks everyone! I could get the 188 rate by clicking on the info. above. Much better, thank you, thank you!

The same exact thing happened to me in late March when I called to book 10 days in August at the Dolphin.

I stayed at the Dolphin last August for 10 days at the Entertainment rate and we enjoyed our stay and figured we'd try again. I called and the woman I got was also VERY snippy and said no discounts of any sort are available for the time we wanted. No biggie but I too was taken aback by her manner on the phone, like how dare I even ask for a discounted rate.

My husband and I agreed that although we liked the Dolphin, we didn't want to pay rack rates, so we decided to wait and see what other discounts would come out for Disney properties. It all worked out because they came out with the Disney Club summer discounts shortly after that and I got the Beach Club for $210/night tax included. :smooth:

I'm very excited about our upcoming stay at the BC, but I'm also sad that one rude person soured my pleasant memory of our stay at the Dolphin last year, particularly because I was left with the feeling that there were probably discounts but she just didn't want to give them out. I know that's insinuating and it probably is, but that's the attitude this person conveyed completely. :(

Maybe we got the same operator - lol. I called Disney Travel right after and got the most kindest woman who checked about 8 resorts for me and every time I said "What about AAA or Disney Club or AP" she patiently said "Well let's take a look at that?" I think I was on the phone 20 min., didn't book anything and she sounded like I made her day by calling her! What a difference. Of course I'm not going to write the Swan/Dolphin off because of one rude person. She didn't even annoy me, I nicely told her I wasn't interested in the room at that rate.

It may very well have been the same person, or at least I hope there's only one!

I haven't written it off either and you'll definitely enjoy your stay there, we really had a nice time there and hope that our vacation this year measures up to the time we had last year.

I have to say that you must be a better person then I, though. I was VERY annoyed! ;)

I was able to get my desired dates thru Dreams Unlimited...both Starwood Reservations and The Swan said nothing was available. I'm so glad I kept checking!!
