We have been thinking about booking a last minute trip to WDW and have never stayed at the Swan & Dolphin. The rates on travelocity have been really tempting. However, one review on travelocity was not very complementary. I was wondering if (like many resorts) the discounted rooms are in an area that is being referbished and that is why there is a difference in reviews. Has anyone had a bad experience with booking a discounted room?

We stayed at the Swan for the first time last month with an AP rate. We were very impressed. The location and the transportation options were wonderful! The hotel itself was very nice, and service was great. And nothing can feel better after a day at the parks than those heavenly beds!!! We had a free upgrade to lake view, along with our AP rate. This had us facing the Dolphin and the boat dock area. It was nice to see that and the Christmas tree below our room.
While it wouldnt be our first choice of resorts, if another good rate came out, we wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.

Yes, I am interested in this also. I read the Travelocity review and was wondering if it was because of the discounted rooms. We are thinking about staying there also.

Swan I believe is all renovated and Dolphin is moving along quite well. Unless the resort is completely booked, if you are not satisfied with your room, you should have no trouble being switched to a new room. They are so accomodating there.

for our first time every and LOVED it! We had the Teacher rate of $129 a night but are also SPG members. We requested and go a renovated room on the 6th floor with a great view of Epcot and a balcony. We used our SPG points to purchase Club Level access. We were weary of the Dolphin too as some had said it did not have that Disney "Feel" and that the staff was not very friendly. We found the staff to be as friendly if not more than at other real Disney resorts we had stayed at. Our renovated room was great and the location can't be beat!

I recommend the Dolphin 100%!

Enjoy!

I have to agree - we loved the Dolphin!!!

I think the transportation, convenience and service by the staff were OUTSTANDING.

We also stayed at a passholder rate and ARE NOT SPG members and they still gave us every request for our room choice.

We had a lost package that the staff tracked down immediately - housekeeping was wonderful - concierge made a PS for us for the EXACT time and date we wanted - we were not on the concierge level, mind you.

The pools are great - something for everyone and the pool staff are friendly and helpful.

Maybe the person who did the review just had a bad stay - it happens, but I think overall you just can't go wrong! :D

Loved the SWAN( a Westin Hotel)! Stayed Club level on teacher's rate this 12/27-1/02/04. Resort is beautiful! Heavenly beds incredible, service wonderful, location fantastic, restaurants very good! We are dvc members and have only stayed at OKW, BCV, BWV since 1994, but we loved this resort! We rented our dvc points and used them to pay for the Swan. Also joined spg before going there and have accrued points for future use. Food on CL was bountiful and very good(breakfast and afternoon hor d'heurves). Would return in a heartbeat! Especially with discount rates(were tried to get other deluxe resorts at this holiday time), but no discounts at WDW unless you checked in by 12/20?, but Swan and Dolphin had discounts! Regular room was $149 and we payed $214 for CL. Don't beleive the negative stuff..the MAGIC is still there!

After 10+ stays at Disney mod's and BWI, we tried the Swan. DH and DD were reluctant because it might not have the "Disney Magic"!

It was wonderful. The heavenly bed were great after a long day in the parks and the location can't be beat. We stayed at BWI the previous year and it too was wonderful, but I have to say, we all preferred the Swan.

We are going back in March, the first four nights at Y&B (no rooms available at Swan, though I do check every day!) and the last three nights at Swan.

You won't be disappointed!

You cannot beat these resorts for a beautiful spacious room, luxurious bedding and linens. Quality furnishings... I have loved every view I've had and one was the front valet parking! LOL! I think we are now more fond of the Dolphin since it is even more "over the top" in it's decorating.... My kids both get excited when they learn we are going there!

I hope that I always feel that way!!:bounce:

We were lucky enough to get the Swan using hotwire. We arrive the day before Thanksgiving and stayed through 12/06. We were very happy with our discounted room location. We had a great view of Epcot and could see illuminations from our room. We are probably going to stay at the Swan or Dolphin again when we go to Disney in December '04. We were treated very well by every staff member we encountered and did not feel like we were treated like 2nd class citizens by the front desk staff who checked us and knew we booked using hotwire. I highly recommend the Swan to anyone who wants to stay in the Epcot/MGM area. For the price, you can't beat the location or the service. And the heavenly beds are just heavenly. Have a great trip. :D
