I'm getting ready to book a two night stay in the World after a 7 night cruise next May and thought I'd give the Swan and Dolphin a try. I'm just curious - is one more preferencial than the other (closer to pools - shorter walk to Epcot)?

I'm confused in regards to rates...in checking AllEars, it seems from the chart there that the Dolphin is less expensive that the Swan - but when I'm booking on line, the opposite seems to be true. A standard room (2 doubles) at the Dolphin for May is $335, whereas a club level room at the Swan (2 queens) is $259, with the standard being $199.

Not even sure if these are good rates....

Is the club level at the Swan good??

Thanks in advance for any help/advice to offer !!

That is strange. When I pull up the Swan, I'm seeing "gds promo" while the Dolphin is rack.

I suggest calling 800) 248-7926 and asking. Keep in mind that it's probaably a little too early for most discounts to be released yet for your dates.

The Dolphin is a tad closer to the pools (well, depending on which part of the hotel you're in--some parts of the Dolphin are closer to the pool than the Swan, some are further away.

The Swan is a tad bit closer to the Boardwalk (we are talking in yards here. The 2 bulidings are only a few yards apart.)

Club level is nice for a big Continental breakfast. Late evening, there are cold appetizers, fruit, and one or two hot appetizers.
Only you can decide if the extra money is worth it for club.

Rooms are a little larger at the Dolphin, while beds are larger at the Swan (queen vs full). ALso, the Swan rooms have two sinks.

More restaraunts at the Dolphin, as is the laundramat.

My favorite for adults only is the Swan--with children, the Dolphin.

The Swan is closer to the Boardwalk; whereas the Dolphin is next to the Yacht Club. On exiting Epcot, you can go left or right to walk to either resort. The Swan is the smaller resort; the Dolphin the larger, with the laundromat, Tubbie's, shops, exercise room, etc. The Dolphin is also closer to the Grotto pool. The Swan has it's own pool too. The two resorts are interchangeable as to charging to your room. In other words, if you eat at a restaurant at the Swan, the bill can be charged to your room at the Dolphin and vice versa. You will enjoy your stay. I just returned from a 3 day trip that was great. Both resorts have the Heavenly bed or the Sweet sleeper. Trust me, they are dangerous. You will lose consciousness as soon as your head hits the pillow. :cloud9:

If you are going as a couple, do the Swan. It is smaller and seems less hectic. It is a little farther from the pools and the lobby is less impressive, but it seems more peaceful. Plus the king size beds are great.

However, if you are going with children, I'd do the Dolphin. The proximity to the pools is better. Plus Tubbi's is right there and open 24 hours.

I was surprised at 11:30pm, when I wanted a soda, (and stupidly we didn't take the minibar key--just seems easier, no arguing wrong charges), but the gift shops were closed and there were no soda machines on the floors that I was told by the front desk, my only option was to walk over to the Dolphin and go to Tubbi's.

You won't go wrong with either. Depending on where you are in the Dolphin, it can almost be closer to walk to the laundry or pools from the Swan!!! Dolphin is huge. We were always over to the Dolphin and into Tubbi's in about 5 minutes.

The beds at the Dolphin are oversized doubles and are supposed to only differ about 2 inches (close to that?) from the queens at the Swan.

You can not go wrong with either hotel. We stayed at the Swan last year and loved it, we are staying at the Dolphin next month. ::MickeyMo

I love the Swan. It is my favorite Disney resort. We have gotten a good room deal via Hotwire. I think the rates sometimes depend on the number of rooms booked. These hotels host conventions. We ended up starting our stay during a week with a Monday holiday and the Swan was absolutely dead. So peaceful; so quiet; so wonderful. Toward the end of our stay it began to get crowded. I think we got our rate because there were so few people in the resort when we wanted to check in.

I have had superior service for all my stays here. Both resorts have very high levels of quality.
