Swan/Dolphin & Magic

I've been lucky enough to have 9 visits to WDW since 2000 and always love going there!! The last two times we stayed at the Swan and I thought it was fantastic location/service, etc, but...

This last time, I didn't feel the same WDW magic staying there. Am I getting jaded or do the Disney owned properties emit more of the magical ambience that is our obsession???

I've never understood the appeal of the Swolphin myself. I'll take a Disney resort anyday.

In my experience (which is definitely limited), there's definitely less Disney "presence" in the Swalphin -- and by "less", I mean "almost none". For me, that's not a huge deal, but I totally understand why so many don't like the Swalphin as a result. The fact that I get a teacher's discount at the Swalphin might have something to do with my opinion...

We have enjoyed our stays at the Swolphin I like the whimiscal decor and the fact that it is a deluxe so close to 2 parks. We particularly like the Swan due to it being closer to the Boardwalk for restaurants, fun, etc. There are character meals, a Disney souvenir store, the Disney channels on the TV.

I think it is a bargain and if we wanted to stay in the Epcot/DHS resort area it would be our first choice.

We've had great experiences at the Swan/Dolphin. With views of Epcot, Tower of Terror, MGM Water Tower, and the Boardwalk, I was definitely feeling the Disney magic. We could walk/boat easily to MGM, Epcot and at the Swan were right next door to the Boardwalk. Since we were paying the teacher/govt/nurse rate, we saved a couple of hundred dollars each night over what we would pay at the Disney Epcot resorts. That money definitely helped create some more Disney magic in the parks.

So we didn't have Mickey wake up calls or Mickey shaped soaps. I'd rather have the Oatmeal soap at the S/D anyway.
