I heard that the Swan/Dolphin runs a special once a year for $99.00

Is that completely unheard of ?

If anyone has heard of this, please let me know how and when you got the discount.

Thanks
JB

Isn't that the rate if you are staying before or after a Disney cruise?

DF99, do you know?

We received the $99 rate last year during President's week for a 5 night stay at the Swan before a 3 night Wonder cruise. We booked the land and sea portion separately and saved tons of money! I could not believe we could get the Swan for $99 a night during President's week. We did not book this until early January last year so this rate may be coming out later this year. I believe I have seen a rate of $149 recently.:Pinkbounc

There was a misprint in ads last year stating that price as the teacher's and nurse's rate. We were lucky enough to have 2 teachers and nurse in our party for our family reunion.

The Swan & Dolphin usually offer this $99.00 rate to travel agents also. We got this rate in July 2002 and are getting the same rate for our Chritmas trip Dec. 2002. It is a great deal.

Boy I sure wish I knew where to get some of these unbelievable deals on the swan/dolphin. I've been trying to get into there for anything less than about 175 per night for years, but haven't come up with any deals for anything less than about that price. I've never stayed there, but I would if I could get something substantially less, like 149 or 99. I don't fall into the teacher/government category. I have AAA, but even with that or the discount book, it's still around 170-175 plus tax, which brings it back up close to 200. I'm just not gonna pay that much for non-disney owned, but if anyone knows how to get all these deals I hear about, let us know LOL.

The "specials" mentioned here...there is ALWAYS the BIRTHDAY RATE of $99 (If you stay on your BD, the room is $99). Also, right now they have a HOLIDAY SPECIAL RATE of $149.00 for the first room, and an additional $100 for the second (if you desire/need one). $99 has always been the TA rate, and sometimes the SPECIAL for FLA. Res., but usually not applicable for any other patrons/time. $149.00 is a GREAT RATE for the SWAN/DOLPHIN! ;)

They do offer this rate for teachers, nurses at different times of the year. Right now it is $129 per night for teachers also for the AP pass holders.
Hope you luck out
:p :bounce: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I thought the holiday rate was $179 and then $100 for the second? If it is $149, that would make it even better!!!! Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Just called the Swan/Doplhin the teacher's rate is $129
hope this helps. Good luck

Is the teachers rate for teachers only or anyone involved with the school system? My DW isn't a teacher but works for the school. What proof do you need?

Freeriverdude- Since you are a FL resident, possibly your schedule dates can be flexible and you can try when there is:

1. A Florida Resident rate when available
2. An annual pass rate (don't they have good annual pass rates for FL residents? - might be worth it to buy that over a regular hopper) when available.
3. Holiday season rate (if you were interested in that time).
4. Are you a Starwood member? Sometimes they have cash plus points deals that are very attractive. (had one last summer I believe)
5. Amex Member? Possibly converting some of those points to Starwood points? (See the S/D thread(s) for more info).
6. Do you by chance have any relatives employed by Sheraton/Westin? They could possibly book you an employee rate.
7. Try Dreams Unlimited Travel from this board. Ask them to do some checking on your dates for the best rates you could qualify for for your dates.
8. Keep watching the threads here!!!

My curiousity is killing me. Are you saying you would pay $200 for a Dis resort or maybe I am interpreting this wrong?

The S/D may not have the Mickey wake-up calls or Mickey soaps or room key charges, but they are wonderful. The location is fabulous. We normally skip AK or just do one afternoon there so we are able to walk to 2 of the three resorts PLUS the boardwalk (or take the Friendship launches). The only one we need to bus to (excluding AK) is the MK. Sometimes we just took the friendship launches to Epcot, walked thru there for the atmosphere and climbed on the monorail at the front of Epcot. (Yes that is time consuming but oh so nice). They have fantastic pools and you can also walk to the mini-golf (Fantasia Gardens). You have multiple eating choices including the reasonable Tubbis Buffeteria, the Dolphin Fountain, and the higher end restaurants. You can also be at the ESPN club at the Boardwalk in about 7 minutes.

Disney Adventurer - It is my understanding that you must be a teacher. I needed to show my active and current state teacher certificate. I also brought my pay stub as a back-up for added insurance of my teaching credentials. You could call the resort and ask. Good luck.

For the birthday rate, is it only good for the actual day of your birthday, or is it for all the nights of your stay? Also, can you book more than 1 room at that rate?

Is is only good for the night of your birthday.

Who is the government rate for? I actually work at an elementary school which is considered a government employee. I get the government rate at Avis and other places.

Jgates, (and others)
I am an annual passholder, but I've never heard of any passholder discounts at S/D. I am willing, and have before, paid 179 or more plus tax for the monorail resorts or the Beach Club, but I don't think I'm willing to pay that for S/D, just my opinion I guess. I also have never heard of any florida resident discounts. Any time I pull up those resorts on either the Sheraton or Westin sites, or a site such as Expedia, there are rates such as the AAA rate or sometimes a "best available" type rate or a weekend getaway type promotional rate, but I've never ever seen any like "florida resident", or seen any advertisements from Disney or elsewhere for a passholder rate. I have heard recently about the birthday rate, although I've read other threads about that where the S/D seems kind of reluctant to give it unless you press them on it, or something like that, plus it's only one night LOL. If anybody does hear about specials for people who don't qualify under the teacher/government rate or is an employee of Starwood, please post! Oh, last night I did try several times to sign up for the SPG card, but the web site wouldn't take it for some reason, it just sits and sits and sits (we're talking 15 minutes before i finally shut it down). I'm not sure if I would get enough points to really use it though anyway.

freediverdude-

Please read glo's entire thread at top of this page. As you will note in there, Starwood doesn't have these discounts- you must call S/D. Needless to say, Disney isn't going to advertise these discounts to you since it is not a Disney property. Also, as I have mentioned in another thread (not this one I don't believe)- go to www.swandolphin.com . Ressie's on that site appear to direct you to S/W site so I would go over the phone directly to S/D at ??
(888) 828-8850. Not sure what number glo has below. This is the number from S/D site. Just make sure you are talking directly with them and not Sheraton/Westin.

Reservations
Phone Numbers:

Swan Wing (407) 934-3000
Dolphin Wing (407) 934-4000
(888) 828-8850

When you call, ask about Florida resident also. I am sure I have seen them mentioned but don't know if that is a seasonal one or just certain dates.

Stolen from glo's thread......

NEW ANNUAL PASS HOLDER DISCOUNT

To Qualify: Must be an annual or seasonal passholder, and will need to show the pass at time of registration for the discount. Rate Schedule is based upon availability. Currently, only sold through local office (800-227-1500) available via other channels (Dreams Unlimited, etc.)currently. Those currently holding other rate schedule reservations are certainly allowed to switch to new plan, as long as discount is available in system.

If you are having problems with the late check out part of the AP rate please follow these directions- It is built as part of the rate schedule with its own code (2pm).Please ask for a reservations sales teamleader if the desk ever is confused on particulars of a program that you know of.
If you want to check in advance, just ask to make sure the late check out is noted in "special service codes"which it should be. This also goes for the room upgrade or other things associated with the rate.

New info on discounts

The Swan and Dolphin will now align with the Disney resorts if the way you book your ressies. If you make a ressie and your reservation starts in LOW season, it will stay in low season even if the rate goes up because of season change.

BENEFITS:

50% Discount off of published RACK Rate

A "One Category" bonus upgrade (example, the price in the system for a Resort View room is actually 50% off of a Lake View room, the category below the one that you are reserving)

PLUS, late check out extension until 2PM on the date of departure! I decided to add both perks to the program as double bonus.

Below are sample available date ranges as of this very minute, which will be subject to change in the future. (at either Swan, Dolphin, or both) The dates are inclusive of the end date. Up to three rooms may be reserved at the AP rate per caller. These date ranges also currently apply to the Entertainment Club rates, as well as most other discounts if you are not a Passholder.

New dates as of 8/07/2002
Following are the dates that discount rate schedules are currently available at EITHER the Walt Disney World Swan or Walt Disney World Dolphin. Most dates are open at BOTH properties.

New dates through 11/01/2003!!!! (see glo's thread for entire date list).

callahanjulie10
yes you qualify for the government rate :)

jgates,

Wow! Thank you! I certainly will call...I didn't realize you had to call the hotel directly, because the Disney resorts are just the opposite, where they don't want you to call the hotel for reservations LOL. Thanks, had never heard of those....it would probably make it worth it for me now, especially if you get resort view for the standard view price- those rooms are usually 30-50 bucks more. The late check-out might be helpful too! Well maybe I'll try again to get that SPG card.....hehe. Thanks again, everyone on these boards really tries to help and participate, and that's what makes this board so much better! I hope you get sprinkled with pixie dust, and may you get an upgrade on your next vacation LOL.
