Hi All,

We are due to go to The Swan in 4 weeks time. We've booked a club level room but DW has just read about the lounge being crowded. Are they still allowing people to pay to use the lounge if they are in standard rooms?

Thanks

I don't think they do.
Our experience in May was that we really wanted a club room upgrade (Starwood Gold) as we didn't care for a balcony. We checked in and asked and the CM told us she had a "really nice balcony upgrade" for us. We asked about the possibility of Club instead, but she told us that they are not allowing club upgrades anymore due to the lounge being crowded.
There are people who get club access if they stay in other area's of the hotel (we got this priviledge at the Dolphin last June) However, from what the CM said they are clamping down on lounge access due to complaints from "paying" guests.
I hope this helps.

We stayed at the Swan in early August on the CL floor. The lounge was never overly crowded - though on several mornings there were many people there. We were always able to get seating though. I have also read that it is harder to get CL upgrade when the floor itself is nearly full - but I belive certain levels of SPG members can get the upgrade without being on the CL floors.

Anyway - I don't think overcrowding will be an issue; if there is a rare time you don't find a seat, just wait - people move in and out fairly quickly, and you can always strike up a conversation with Mama T - which will be the most enjoyable part of your CL stay!

We were there in May and were comped to Club privledges but were not on club level. It was great! Never crowded at all. We will pay for this wonderful level next time before our cruise.

We never found it overly crowded (7/02). In the evenings, I would swear we were sometimes the only people that had come in! Breakfast we always had a place to eat and a few mornings were the only ones there at that time. (Normally ?9 a.m.)

Club at the Swan sounds great! Can any of you all compare Swan to Dolphin Club?

Thanks everyone for your info. We just wondered if there was any point in paying for a club room if you could ask for club privileges anyway.

There were no club rooms available when we checked in last week, so we were given club privileges at the same rate of 1,000 pts. per night. (Well worth it I might add.)

disneymom57, did you call Starwood for the upgrade before you arrived or did a CM do it for you at check-in? Since you used points, did you still get a comp. room with a view? How was Club Level? Thanks!

I was there using the Cash & Points award ($60 per night plus 4,000 pts. per night). It includes a deluxe room with a balcony overlooking Epcot. I requested before arrival an upgrade to club but there were none available when we arrived. I then decided to use an additional 1,000 pts. per night when checking in for club privileges. (They said it was the same price as the club level.) Club lounge is definitely worth it!. They have the friendliest staff (Mama T & Thabo) who make it all worthwhile .(Food is great too!)

Thanks! I hope to have enough points by our trip to upgrade to Club Level. It sounds great!
