I've never stayed there but I'm looking for a more affordable alternative for the last weekend of Food & Wine than Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk. I know they're not Disney, so what's the deal?

There's no magical express but is there another option for free transportation from MCO to the hotel? What kinds of discounts do they usually offer if any? The thing that really bothers me is the $14 a day resort services fee, for some reason that was a total turn off.

There is no free transportation to/from MCO. You can rent a car service to/from for around $100. We stayed this past Sept and got AAA rates of around $159/night. It is a great resort and you can get to 2 parks (EP and HS) by boat or walking and can use disney transportation for free. You can't get the dining plan because it is not a disney resort.

I could be wrong but I think they charge you for parking in addition to the "resort fee". We had looked into staying there as well but all of the fees added up pretty quick and once I caught wind that we'd have to also pay for parking I said forget it.

We have stayed at the Swan and it was wonderful! Both Swan and Dolphin hotels offer a discount to nurses, teachers, and members of the US Military. They have many restaurants between the two hotels. Food is very good but pricy. You get most of the Disney perks, like extra magic hours, Disney transportation, package delivery from parks. You don't get the Magical Express transport, no dining plan, no "key to the world" card. Rooms were very nice and the "heavenly" beds were so comfy! I would without hesitation stay there again if we were not DVC owners.

We loved the Swan/Dolphin! We did Mears from the airport and stopped at a grocery store to grab some good breakfast food/snacks. That helped to keep our breakfast/snack costs down. It was fun to have someone waiting after our flight with a sign with our names on it :) Being so close to the Boardwalk and Epcot is really wonderful!

I know they offer a teachers/nurses discount, and I imagine AAA.

Anyone do the family room? if so, is there room for some groceries. the swan has a table with 4 chairs to eat.
