Swan and Dolphin Check-in

My DW and I are taking a land and sea cruise and staying in the WDW Dolphin for 3 days prior to our first cruise. The passport book we received mentioned that if staying in Disney hotels we would only need to check-in once at the hotel and not again at the port. It also said that this MAY not be the case if staying at the Dolphin and Swan because they are not owned by Disney. Has anyone stayed at either of those 2 hotels as part of a Land/Sea package that were able to utilize the single check-in?

When we stayed there last year we had to check in at the hotel and the port.
