Swan and Dolphin are not on-site resorts?

My sister called today to make her 180+10 ADR's and was told she had to call every day because Swan and Dolphin were not considered on property.

I'd never heard of that. I thought they were included in the 180+10 rule. Has anyone else bumped into that?

It is not they are not "on-property" but they are not "Disney Owned and Operated". Within Starwood's contract with Disney they get EMH access and Disney buses. I'm not sure about package delivery, but they don't have any other privledges such as charging to room, etc.

They do have package delivery. And the 180+10 difference is probably because Disney does not have access to their reservation system.

i'm staying at The Swan in Sept. I was able to do the 180+10 and did it last year when I was at The Dolphin. You also get the EMH. The things you can't get are room key charging and having packages delivered there, and Magic express. The only thing I miss is the sending of packages to room. To be honest magic express is nice but when I arrive after 4-5 hours of travel i want to change clothes and go! With magic express you will be waiting up to 2+ for your suit-case. I don't know what rate you got, but to be in a deluxe Hotel in the middle of epcot/MGM/boardwalk area and only pay $125-(got offer 2 years in a row), i'll deal without a few minor things.:wizard:

We just got back from a 8 night stay at the Swan and loved it. There is package delivery. It was so handy to buy stuff at the parks and have it sent back to the resorts for free! Kept our hands free for buying more!
Hve a great time!:thumbsup2

If you have an AAA card - for the restaurants which are owned by Starwood - Swan and Dolphin - you can get 20% off your meal. That would be the same dsicount as DDE. They are not on the Disney Dining meal plan.

We love the Dolphin Fountain and Picabu's is OK.

You CAN have your packages delivered to the Swan and Dolphin; it's right there on the form you fill out for package delivery.

The Swan and Dolphin are on property but are not owned and operated by Disney, so you don't get every perk of staying at a Disney resort, similar to the Downtown Disney hotels, only with more perks.

Package delivery is to the lobby gift shop, not to your room. It was still very convenient.

Just go to www.swandolphin.com and do your dinning reservations via email. I did that last week for our trip this Saturday and was able to get the new Italian place in the Swan for Saturday night at 7pm and Shula's at the Dolphin at 7pm on Sunday night.

Thanks for the heads up on this as I am a AAA member but did not know about this discount. Do you know it the discount can be used at Shula's and the new Italian place in the Swan?

They do offer package delivery back to the Swan and Dolphin just like any other Disney owned resort. The packages go to your resort gift shop.

we booked our first night gullivers dinner right thru the website, no hassle :goodvibes
i am really looking forward to this hotel. :goodvibes

Are they saying she isn't eligible for 180+10 because she's staying at S/D or is she trying to make a reservation for a restaurant at the S/D?

I thought it was the former, but some of the responses are confusing me.

There are no known discounts being accepted at Shula's or Blue Zoo. They are independent restaurants, and simply haven't been offering discounts. I believe the new Italian venue will be the same, and not have discounts either.

Okay. Thanks.

We are staying at the Swan in Nov. I called at 180 from my 1st adr. I made them for 4 days out (it is a short trip) when I called. I said I was staying at the Swan and was still able to make all my adrs for this trip.

She's trying to make all her ADR's for the Trip. They've had her call every day. What a bummer. It is a 10 day trip and those phone calls are not swift.

I think that the OP is asking about being able to make her ressies under the 180 + 10 day rule for WDW restaurants - not about S/D restaurants. As for the answer to her question, unfortunately there is no consistent policy when staying at the S/D.....some people have been able to make all their ressies, some have been told to call each day - I think that it depends on the CM taking the dining ressie.
