Have you ever seen or gotten youth fares for an airline? I was just looking at SWA's website, because we may be sending 14 yr old DD to Florida to help my niece with her 4 kids for a few weeks this summer, and I saw this. I didn't know youth fares existed. :confused3 And what kind of "valid" picture IDs are there for 14 year olds? (I know it says to call SWA, and I will when the time comes to make a reservation...just wondering if anyone knew.)

Youths who are at least 12 years of age but who have not reached their 22nd birthday can fly to any of our cities, any time of the day or night, at the applicable Youth Fare. A valid picture I.D. proving age will be required at time of ticket purchase and at time of travel. Call Southwest Airlines Reservations for details.

The discount is off the fully refundable fare. It's more expensive than the discounted fares most of us book. It really only works if you're booking on short notice or during peak travel times when there aren't any other discounted fares available.

Ahh. Good to know, nonetheless. Thank you.
