You need to sign up at southwest.com/cmbuygiftpoints
and make your purchase between 9/12/13 - 11/8/13.
1,000 RR points costs $27.50 (2.75 cents each). Add in the additional 500 points and you will spend just 1.83 cents per RR point.
Plus, if you use your SWA Visa, you get 2 pts./$ spent on SWA's website, so you'll get an additional 55 RR points.
Total cost for 1555 RR pts. = $27.50 (1.77 cents per RR pt.)
60 RR pts. = $1 in Wanna Get Away fares. That means that SWA values each RR point at about 1.67 cents. Buying the points is not cheaper than buying the airfare directly. But if you only need a thousand or so to get your next ticket, it might be worth it to buy the points.
The wording on the website and in the flyer I got via snail mail is somewhat confusing. It says to register between those dates, so wait a couple of days to register.
