I'm excited and bummed! I purchased my tickets as soon as the schedule was released because I was afraid all the seats would be taken. Price went down once and I received a credit of $80, went down again and I got an additional $120 so I now have $200 credit with SWA. If only I had waited to book I would have saved the cash!

I don't travel much so I'm afraid I won't be able to use the credit in a year. One SWA employee told me to apply for a refund but their policy says nonrefundable tickets are just that... nonrefundable... anyone have any luck actually receiving cash back?

Thanks!

People who post here have received a refund. Call customer care, the number is on the website.

I called SWA because we have a credit of $300 to be used by 6/05. We are expecting a baby in January, so I doubt we'll be flying again before then.

They told me there are plenty of options, I just should wait until the expiration date gets closer. They said getting a 6 month extension is usually not a problem.

:D That happened to me also and when I called SWA Customer Service they credited (is this even a word???) my credit card for the difference. Give them a call and ask, they are generally very fair.:D

or, you can do what i am doing... finding a traveller to "buy" your credit from you... i have a coworker who is more than happy to use my southwest credit! :)

Similar thing happened to me...A week after booking, the fare dropped.
I called SW, and was credited the difference back to my card (total of $120).

Good Luck:)

When my fare originally dropped by $80 I called & was told it would be in the form of a voucher, I even called back to confirm. I got my credit card statement last week & found the $80 went back to my card! You just never know!

I, too, got a refund of $160 when our airfare went down. Keep trying!

It's nice to hear they will issue extensions on the credits sometimes too. I have a credit from our flight this upcoming week due to the recent sales. We have to use it by 8/?/04. I don't remember the exact date. Anyhow, we intend on buying a new house right after the 1st of the year. So I don't think we'll be traveling this next spring or summer. However, we'll be taking an extended family trip in Oct-- 2 months after my credit expires. So it would be nice to extend the credit to then.

I called when the price went down $135 a week after I booked my trip. I just nicely asked if there was any way to get the amount on my credit card, she looked the reservation up and saw I did not change any times and credited it back. It doesn't hurt to ask.
