SWA question - checking in your luggage

What is the time restriction / deadline to check-in your luggage for Southwest?

For example, United is 45 minutes before the flight. We learned this one the hard way and missed it by 1 minute and they would not let us on the flight So, we had to fly standby on the next flight, 2 hours later!

MCO is one of the airports with a 45 minute luggage check in requirment. SW will still accept your luggage, it will be tagged as late and if your luggage is tranported on a later flight you'll be responsible for getting it from your destination airport to your home. Other airlines had a problem telling (elite) fliers the passenger had to go back to the airport to get their luggage, or had to pay to have the luggage sent home. Those airlines solved the problem by not letting the passenger fly on that flight.

Oh, wow, Lewis - do you know my brother? That's what happened to him, except his luggage never made it on the later flight, either. The dear man checked everything, and was fortunately staying with friends from whom he could borrow clothing for his first night/day...

They wouldn't let us fly on the first flight with our bags on another flight. They said it was a Federal law that you have to fly with your bags. So, my DH & DD got on the early flight & I stayed behind and flew with our bags standby...........
