SWA-Presidents Week!

Okay, I see a thread for March has been started,but what about all of us(or is it just ME )waiting for Presidents Week?? I am looking for Feb.15-25th. Anybody waiting with ME?? Joan

I'm still waiting too. I got totally fed up last Monday evening when I clicked on Southwest at 6:15pm and the schedule had changed to FEBRUARY 3RD!!!!!
I could NOT believe my eyes. Last year the Sept change went through March 3rd! Everyone here was forbidden to mention SWA for four days. Anyway, it took me until this morning to recouperate and I'm happy to say I'm back.....

Got tired of waiting for 2/19 to 2/26. Bought tickets on the new Allegiant run from Worcester MA to Sanford instead. I feel a little disloyal, as I sing SWA's praises to everyone, but couldn't beat the $39 (down) and $79 (back) fares. I'm glad I moved quickly because those rates are gone now.

I would have done Allegiant except that they want over $400 for a round trip ($199 each way plus tax). That was the price for my dates the day they opened February up. Get those little introductory offers while you can because they disappear.

Quick question - do people generally go the week of the President's Day holiday (ie Monday Feb 20th is the holiday so they go from Feb 20th to 25th or so) or do they go the week before (Feb 12th week) and stay an extra day for the Holiday Monday?

My DSs b'day is Feb 12 and we were thinking of going again over this b'day. But if the crowds are really going to pick up the week of the 12th then we will reconsider and move our trip up a week or so. Thoughts anyone?

We were there both weeks last year and believe me the week AFTER president's day was when the crowds really picked up. Most schools in the northeast have that week off. We had a GREAT time the week before, the weather was beautiful and crowds were low.

Good for you! Those are GREAT fares! By the time I checked they were much higher.

If I had a choice I would go either the week ending 2/12 or put 2/12 in the middle of your trip like go 2/9-2/16. Crowds will probably begin to pick up the 17th or 18th. Before DD was in School we would always go the first or second week of Feb. Almost everything was a walk on. It was great.
Now we go Pres week, but since we now have 10+ trips under our belt, if there a crowd or a line, we just go back and hang out at the resort.

I am waiting for Presidents' weekend, too, but I don't have a lot of faith that the prices are going to be reasonable.

Right now all that is left on NWA out of DTW for the days/time that I need are First Class seats to the tune of $1371 EACH. SPIRIT is at $600+. Transmeridian out of Toledo just went belly up, so I don't have much hope that I am going to be going down in Feb this year on anything UNDER $400 pp and may just forget Feb this year!

We would really like to go down for even a few days over Presidents Day/ vacation week. I have been waiting and hoping for some decent fares from SWA. Earlier this week, when the Allegiant Air website posted the announcement about flying out of Worcester I started playing with the February vacation week dates. I would have been able to get $39 each way flying down on Monday and home on Friday for a total of $472 for 5 people. I called my husband about it but we decided to wait until he got home from work to figure out all the details (hotel, car etc.) Well, BIG mistake. By the time we checked again all the prices had increased significantly. I am still kicking myself over not just booking when I got those cheap rates. Those same flights today are $209 each way - over $2000 for 5.
