After seeing that my flight's price dropped, I rebooked with the lower price. then I called Southwest and asked them to credit it back to my CC. After a few minutes of checking into my reservation (I assume to make sure that nothing about the res. had changed except the price), the SWA rep said ok, all done. Three days later, the credit was back on my CC. I never would have know that I could do this if you DISERS hadn't stated it on this board. THANKS!

Hi princesspumpkin, I have a few questions for you. Hopefully tomorrow Southwest is opening up for the rest of April. So if I get tickets tomorrow or whenever they become available if the price goes down later on I can get a credit on my credit card. I've read that some ppl have only gotten a credit for SW. Not sure I would want a credit with them because probably wont be flying within the year. So do I rebook then call or call first and ask about the price difference. Understand? LOL. Will I only get a credit card credit if I rebook first? Thank you for any info you or anyone else has!

Rebook at the lower fare and then call Customer Relations. Be aware that the only time this works is IF you don't change anything but the fare.

Yeah, what bopeep said :D I went online, saw that the price went down, did the "change reservation" thing online (but rebooked the exact same thing). After I was finished, it said that I had a $60 credit. I then called the customer service number, explained what i did and they put the amount back on my CC three days later.

Just got my staement today and Southwest did credit my card back in the amount of $360. Yoo Hoo! I LOOOOOOVE Southwest!

I just booked for April school vacation...the flights went very quickly and although I didn't get really cheap fares, I was happy to get decent times on my flights on the days I wanted. Now, when do you expect prices to drop if at all for mid April? How often should I be checking the website? I do get the Tuesday e-mails...will that let me know?

Thanks everyone!

do you have to cancel out your existing reservation then book the new lower fare? if so does this mean they charge your card twice?

thanks:flower1:

Nope, they don't charge your card twice. When you cancel, they use your reservation number as the credit. When you rebook and get to the payment page, you select pay with ticketless travel funds and insert the reservation number in the space provided.

I just called and also got a $360 credit - but the agent I was talking to said to call back after I have completed my trip and they will credit me then. Does this make sense and has anyone else been told this.

Also, should I just keep the SWA credit? I have already paid for the flight on my Visa so that money is gone and forgotten about. A nice credit for a future trip might be nice. Any personal thoughts out there?

Personal thought:
Taking the credit on tour credit card, IMO, is always better than taking the credit toward a future SWA flight. So what if you've already paid the credit card bill? Get the money back and do whatever you want with it. At the very least you can invest it and make it work for you instead of SWA. To me this is a no-brainer.

yes chasbos i have been told this as well, but haven't done it yet, we fly in january.

also, be aware the credits expire a year from the date you originally bought your tickets...in order to use the credit you must complete travel before the expiration date. if you don't plan on flying before then, i'd try to get it credited back to your credit card.

you can check your ticketless travel funds right on the website using your confirmation number.

We are planning on taking an adults only trip in probably March - not sure where - but somewhere warm again. So I will see come February what deals they have and to where and likely use them right away.

I have always been impressed with Southwest..so far anyway. I too booked a trip for the end of January and started out at $145.00 round trip. I am now down to $115.00 round trip out of Providence, and they are issuing my $60.00 credit back to my Visa. Kudos Southwest!

i just did this and i got credites $240, but only for another flight at SW.. how would we have gotten a credit to our CC?

I just rebooked our flights for this January. I got a $180 dollar credit, which I will use this spring for a girls trip to Miami! I am very excited!
