So historically speaking are WE THINKING Tuesday is THE DAY???? Joan

Historically, SW should of released Feb dates by 9/23. According to flyertalk.com, the delay is because of the hurricanes....

I have a funny feeling Monday is going to be the day!!!! Hurricane Rita has passed. :sunny:

It has never been on a Monday before (at least in the last 3 years) but it has NEVER been this late before either. Tomorrow will be 106 days until the end of their schedule (Jan 9). As I mentioned before, historically the schedules have been released between 112-135 days before the end of the schedule. It is my belief that the info that "Boo's Mom" got was probably correct and the schedules were supposed to be released last Thursday. They probably held off to see what kind of mess they might be dealing with after Rita hit. So I guess anything can happen at this point. :confused3

I'm sure my boss would be most grateful if the airfares come out on Monday...so I will actually get some "real" work done this week.

I'm not sure how much longer I can wait? I've found airfare that I can live with for Presidents week and I think I'm buying tonight as I'm affraid if I wait this price will be gone and so will Southwest by the time I get home from work at 5:30 on whatever day it does come out on. I'm not allowed to access Southwest from work it's a big NO NO.

If I had found airfare (and connections) I could live with I would have booked by now. SW is the only airlines that flies nonstop for us and the lowest I could find for President's week was $404.00 with 5 HOUR OR MORE layovers - total travel time 9 hours in somes cases! Even if I have to book at the highest fare (which would probably be around $400) AT LEAST we won't waste 2 days of our vacation traveling.

Exactly! Prices right now are outrages for Presidents week. SW will probably be high too but you have to love nonstop flights!

8:45 and *still* nothing! this is unheard of!! methinks they are waiting to see what effects rita has on the fuel supply... or their main offices are in texas and they were evacuated? i just wish i could book my flights and BE DONE!

I'm pretty close to giving up. I've been able to find two pretty good fares for my family to travel the week after Pres. week from Detroit to MCO. Some of the legs are even non-stop which is a huge plus for me. Unless SW comes out with a screaming low fare I don't think I'll go thru the hassle of plane changes in Chicago in mid-winter!

This is such a gambling game! :scratchin

It really should not depend on fuel too much, if you think about it, this is Jan/Feb we are talking about. This is not PRIME "vacation" season like summer is. They just need to change it, or else tell us when they are going to change it so we can stop sitting in front of our computers! pirate:

I'm so sick and tired of this waiting! What is wrong with SW? :rolleyes1

I agree!! I need these fares to come out this week! I'm planning a trip for 23 people :earseek: over MLK weekend....and I'm leaving for Orlando on Thursday! I can't have the schedule extended while I'm gone!

I am wondering if the flights for New Orleans will be up when it gets extended. I am trying to figure out what to do.

Fingers crossed that they come out before you leave!

and see, i think the fuel issue will be a big one *because* it's not prime travel time... they may be reworking to reduce the number of flights to/from specific locations, make fewer non-stops, etc... it makes sense to combine two flights to the same place if both would only be partially filled (i.e. long island to orlando, stop in baltimore or nashville)... although i, too, am tired of checking, checking, checking... it's making me CRAZY! :badpc:

gigi - that would cause a real problem President's week when all the flights are sold out so quickly!!! Can you imagine?

Actually, I read that Southwest negotiates fuel contracts that fix the price they pay far in advance. If this is true, the hurricanes and present fuel costs would not be affecting them at all. Anyone else heard this? :flower:

gigi - have you tried flights out of JFK or LGA? We purposely don't fly out of MacArthur as SW is the only airline with non-stop flights and no guaranteed seats. As DH has a huge fear of flying we like assigned seats. We booked Song out of LGA for 158.00 pp/rt for the week before President's week. You can wait for SW but you really need to be quick once those flights are posted. We know a ton of families waiting for the flights to be posted just to get flights Pres. Week out of MacArthur. Good luck.... :wizard:
