I can't believe it :thumbsup2

When I originally purchased our tix, the cost was a little over $515.00. Thanks to a few Dings & email specials, I have brought the cost down to $315.00.

I still can't believe it! :woohoo: :woohoo:

cool beans!! we have almost $200 in swa ticketless account now too thanks to dings and sales... YAY! (i call that an insurance policy toward the next trip! ;) )

Ugh, why did you have to post this??? Now I go look at our dates on SWA and sure enough - $59 each way! The problem is that we're booked on Delta and tehy have that darn $50 change fee (not to mention our $$$ that they'd be holding). Man, I wish I would have taken the chance and waited on airfare.

So WWYD? Book with SWA and just let our $$$ sit with Delta or just stop looking at the stupid fluctuations? We do travel pretty frequently, so I'm sure we'd use our Delta funds, but I hate to shell out more $ just to save $, know what I mean? Of course DH is in meetings all morning so I can't get his opinion on this and I'm afraid the $59 fare will be gone by the time we talk. :confused3

I know what you mean. Until we got our DVC, I never really paid attention to all this airfare stuff. Now I am on a cazillion times a day looking for deals. I always say that for a $44-59 fare, you can't even fill up your gas tank for that!!! Where can I go now???? SW always comes out with specials so I would hold out from now on for that. You can always book it the day it comes out and cancel and rebook if the fare goes down and have the credit good for 1 year. At least you'll have the flight reserved. On the Delta flight, you need to add it all up. They are charging you the $50 and how much more would you be saving???? You could always use the Delta to go somewhere SW doesn't fly too. Just a suggestion Good Luck!!!

Also check Delta. From our location (Nashville) to MCO, both SWA and Delta are $49.00 each way.

Given a choice between the 2 I'd still pick SWA every time! :thumbsup2 We got a ding fare out of BNA for $33 one way & $31 the other. Plus if the fare goes down after you book there are no change fees with SWA. And they never (in my experience) change flight times on you, something Delta is notorious for doing. :furious:

Thanks for the support!

Mickey-4-Me, Delta is still high from the Northeast, but good thought! I have been checking them a lot too (esp with the $49 posts - lucky ducks!)

In the end I did 'him and haw' long enough for DH to be free and we decided to book SWA. Ro80 - the using the Delta credit to fly where SWA doesn't fly weighed in to the decision. DH has family in MSP, so having that option is good...or another trip down to FL ;) The other thing is that we had originally planned our trip for 9/23 - 9/30 and withe Delta's fares it was cheaper for us to extend one more day. SWA puts us back at our original dates so saving the extra day of hotel (we were going to stay at ASMu after OKW to save weekend DVC points - so it also saves us from packing up and moving for one night), the extra day of rental car, the extra day or the boarding kennel here for our furbaby, and the extra day of airport parking (not to mention food for the day). So we decided the fees were a wash with that savings. Not to mention, all of the schedule changes on Delta lately (which they've changed once on us already without any notification) was not sitting well with me.

OK, so I now promise NOT to look at any more airfares for our September dates :rolleyes1

And Ro80 - I agree that DVC just makes the obsession worse! Pair DVC with an AP and it is tough not to jump at the great airfares! We're also considering taking our tent down sometime to stay at Ft Wilderness ...man if that works out and turns out to be fun I'll never do anything but watch airfares!

Kim&Chris - Thanks for the OP!

I already have flights booked for my husband, son and myself through Southwest. If a better rate becomes available how do handle this? Do I purchase new tickets first, then???

I originally booked online if that makes a difference ...

Just click on travel center, then click on change air reservation. You just enter your conf. # then enter your "new" flight dates and times, even if they're the same as your original. You will be given a credit that you have 1 yr to use from the original purchase date. Keep close track of your credits because SWA can't locate them for you w/o the conf. # Have fun! :thumbsup2

I fly SW a lot so I get a call from them telling me they are sorry but they had to redo some flights and mine was one of them :sad2: . This was after Katrina.

So I'm ok with it things happen ,The guy gives me my new flight number say my confrimis the same that he already booked me into the change but if I wanted I could switch if needed. He was very apoligetic .

He then gives me the times and they are 10 mins different :rotfl2: I started laughing and told him thats not a change thats I've had delays longer then that from a person trying to switch a seat after boarding.

I thanked him for his call and concern. :thumbsup2

But they fly so many flights it's usually not a problem at all here at BWI.

When it's a DING, you have to cancel your original ressie and use those credits toward the DING fare. This happened to us once and I couldn't figure it out so I called their toll-free #. The lady was so nice, stayed on the phone w/me until I completed everything online. She said to always cancel by phone when changing to a DING fare because if you cancel online, those funds may not be immediately available to use for another purchase. Other posters have said they cancel online and it works fine though. :confused3
I hope you were able to get the DING rate. :cool1:

I agree, when in doubt, call 800 IFLY-SWA. They are great! For all the complaining I do about SWA's seating arrangment (burns me not to be abel t pick my Isle seat close to the door :furious: ) I fly with just about everytime I'm flying on my dime - they have the best fairs, in my experiance have always been on time, never lost my bag and the customer service is fantastic!

:cheer2: :cool1:  for SWA
