Does anyone know if SWA has milk available in the drink cart? If not, would they be able to refrigerate milk I bring on the plane? I will need whole milk for my DS & need to know if I need to bring an insulated bag w/ice pack to keep the milk fresh during the flight.

SWA does not list milk as a beverage they serve onboard. You might want to check the TSA website on whether or not you can bring an ice pack and milk through security. TSA states that formula, breast milk and juice can be taken through security, but it doesn't specifically say milk. You can purchase milk after your get through security to bring on the plane.

My plan was to purchase it after security. I just need to keep it cold throughout the flight if I can't get new milk during the flight.

That's what I would do - bring a frozen ice pack in a small insulated bag, then purchase the milk after going through security. I do this all the time with a bottle of water and an insulated bottle holder and it stays chilled.

How long is your flight? When our DD was on milk only I bought it after security right before the flight at a place that sold food. We would then put some ice in her drink cup and fill with the milk. Our diaper bag also has a cooler compartment for bottles. Worked for flights of a couple of hours no problem. Then if we changed planes we would just buy more. (I know it sometimes is frustrating how much money we would spend on several single milks at airport prices, but it's just part of traveling!!)

Luckily she drinks apple juice now and I don't worry so much about keeping it cold.

Unless there is some reason it has to be kept super cool, milk isnt going to go bad in the time of a flight. May not be super cool, but if you just had a inulated bag even without ice it should stay 'cool' for a number of hours. Plus you'll have to be careful what type of 'ice pack' you brings as I dont know if the 'gel' type frozen things are allowed anyway since they will fall under the liquids and gel restrictions? At that point maybe bring a couple of ziplock bags and see if you can get some ice if you must keep it that cool.

You won't be allowed to bring a freezer pack through security with you. BUT..you can bring a few bags of frozen peas or corn!! Put those in an insulated bag, then put your milk in it after you buy it past security. That should keep the milk nice and chilled for quite awhile.

I injured my back pretty badly and we worried about bringing frozen anything, but DH suggested bringing an empty baggie and asking the flight attendant to fill it with ice. I am much better but still tender, so that is my plan for keeping my back cold!

That's a good idea! I can bring a small ziploc bag & have it filled w/ice. Our flight is about 3 hrs.

I bought these - http://www.horizondairy.com/#/products/milk/milk-boxes - for our Disney trip last week. Security had no problem with them. They did swab them at my home airport, but did nothing when we left MCO. They were perfect to stick in the fridge in our room if DD wanted some milk and we also took 1-2 a day to the parks with us, since DD shared 1-2 meals with us and that way we didn't have to buy her a milk. They are sold at Whole Foods and Babies R Us here. Horizon has a great search feature where you can look up exact product availability in your town - click on "Store Locator" when you are on the page of whichever product you need.
