SW? When did this happen?

We haven't flown Southwest in over a year. When did they change the EBCI fee from $6 each way to $12.50 each way? Just wondering how I missed this. Thanks for any feedback.

It went from $10 to $12.50 in February of this year based on several online sources. Not sure when it increased to $10.

For some reason, I didn't even know they had EBCI or I would have paid it.

Or, I may have just done what everyone else on my flight did…..buy one and save seats for the rest of the family.

We're seriously looking at SW out of PHL next Oct, never flew them before. Just the two of us, can I just check in online in advance, get there early and expect to have us seats together?

You can try.

We checked in 24 full hours before our trip, literally the min. the hand turned to the exact 24 hour mark I went online and checked in. We still got B seating and when we got on the plane we were not able to sit together. There were only 2 of us too.

Bill the 2 times we've flown SWA from here in Philly the flights were very crowded, if I remember right they were even asking for volunteers to take later flights. Do yourself a favor and purchase the EBCI it will make your life a lot easier. We did this for our second try with SWA and we were glad we did. We'll buy them for our May flight when we purchase, probably next week.

If you ckeck in at 24 hrs you'll be fine for 2 people. We go every OCT from PHL and always do the 24hr check-in. Never do EBCI going from PHL to MCO. But coming home we do because we are at the parks all day and don't want to be bothered checking in.

Doesn't matter how early you get to the airport you will still board the plane bases upon your boarding letter and number.

For two people checking in at the 24 hour mark is still no problem. You'll be at least a good to decent "B" seating assignment
