SW Vacations Refund

Just wondering if anyone has had luck and how long it may take............Had a trip that I paid for on my Disney CC for myself and a friend to Las Vegas, leaving on 9/10 (thursday)@ 11am. The Friday before, my father suffered from a heart attack/cardiac arrest. By Sunday he was fine and still no reason other than a possible irregular heart beat for the cause-so still planning trip. That was labor day weekend, so had to wait until Tuesday am for a cardiac cath only to find out he had 3 blocked arteries, surgery scheduled on Thursday 9/10@11am-yes, same exact time. No possible way I could be on the plane or trip. My father is my only parent, he raised my brother and me on his own...............so I called immediately(about 50 hours prior) and cancelled........I have sent all documents with a letter from the surgeon, have gotten the friendly "considering your situation" postcard. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this-all I really want is a credit so we can plan our trip later this year or early next.......
 
My friend is going thorugh this very thing. She had booked through SW vacations (Vegas as well), and then found she could book the whole thing cheaper herself, even counting the 100 cancellation fee, so cancelled and is waiting for the refund to show. It is taking a LONG time..I would suggest you call and she is going to do. As an aside, she decided to never use them again for vacations, since cancelling is such a big deal.
 
I hate to hear this for obvious reasons but also after seeing their new commercials where all the workers say is YES!
 
Ours took almost 1 month. We had a trip to Vegas last December and our flight ended up getting cancelled due to the weather. The earliest flight they could get us on was the next day which we didn't want to do since our trip was only 3 nights. So, we chose to cancel and get a refund. We were told they would have to call the hotel to see if we would get 100% back b/c we did not purchase trip insurance. I guess the hotel said yes b/c we got 100% back. The flight was 12/20 and we got the refund on 1/16. We had to mail back our tickets, etc.
