SW resort check in - I didn't know they did that

We just came home yesterday :( We stayed at Pop Century and used Magical Express flying in and out on Southwest. I didn't realize that Disney offered this service. We were automatically enrolled in the resort check in for our flight home. We didn't have to do anything the day before our flight as far as checking in at the 24 hour mark. The morning of our flight we got baggage tags and boarding passes delivered to our door. We all had group A boarding passes in the 50s. Maybe not as good as if we had done it ourselves, but workable. It saved us a lot of hassle of trying to get checked in on our last full park day.

Actually ME and RAC (resort airline check-in) are two totally different entities. And until last year, Southwest did not participate in RAC; they started at the values last year. They are steadily adding the resorts throughout this month and next month.

It is a fantastic service that has spoiled me!

I have always flown Airtran, because it did participate in RAC; now I might have to give Southwest a closer look.

Just decided to visit WDW June 29-July 9. Staying POFQ. Always fly SW. Does this mean RAC will be available for my trip?

How do I go about doing this for my return flight on 4-12? Is this done at the resort or do I need to call SW???
Thanks

It was not done through Southwest. The only time I gave anyone our flight information was when I booked the hotel through the Disney website and signed up for Magical Express. When we checked in with Magical Express they gave us an instruction sheet about the resort online check in and said we were automatically enrolled. If we did not want to participate we should call the number on there and cancel. I wasn't sure about how the boarding pass part would work specifically with Southwest so I called the info number on the instruction sheet the day before to verify that they would get our boarding passes for us. The whole thing worked great.

So I think the sign up was when I signed up for Magical Express and gave our flight info to them.

So glad to hear this worked well for you! Thanks for posting!

Is SSR participating? We're renting a car so we're not using ME so I wonder if we can use this service.

Thanks!

I'm still trying to figure this out. My family is staying at All Star Sports. We are flying Southwest. I know that our luggage is supposed to be delivered right to our room.

I am unclear how departure works. Do we need to bring our luggage to the airport with us, or is there a way to check it at the hotel?

Any help/advice would be appreciated. (I'm traveling with two kids under the age of ten, so the less I have to deal with luggage, the better.)

New (actually for several months now) for the All Stars and Southwest, you can check the luggage at the hotel.

Must be at least 3 hours before your plane departure and really should be at least a little more in advance (not more than 12 hours in advance) since waiting to check the luggage does not count as being punctual for the DME bus. Does not work for flights leaving before about 8 AM since the luggage check stand doesn't open early enough.

I'm told that, for Caribbean Beach and one other (not sure whether it is Saratoga Springs) luggage checking for Southwest will be somewhat delayed until additional luggage holding areas at the resort are arranged.
