SW refund ?

I know some people have said that they have been able to get refunds on their SW credits. Here is my situation. We have tickets booked for our trip 9/23 returning 10/1. As of right now, we might have to cancel the trip all together. Problems at dh's job. What do you think the chances are of us getting the tickets refunded? We don't fly much at all, so the credit would probably go to waste and it was around $400.

Although you probably can't get a refund, the credit can be used by anyone in that year so if you know someone who flies Southwest, they can use the reservation number to use your credit amount and then reimburse you. The only time I have been successful in getting a refund was when the price dropped on a promotional ticket and there were still seats available in that price option. I got a choice of crediting the difference or receiving a refund. To make that refund happen I had to be able to book EXACTLY the same flight, time, etc. at the lower price rather than cancelling my trip altogether. I think you can always get your taxes refunded.

Thanks unfortunately all of our family lives in ares that SW doesn't service. I already have a credit because of the fares lowering. I wonder if I should try to get that refunded at least. It was for the same exact flights and it is for $134 so that would at least help some. I'm trying to find other options for us to still use the airfare, but go somewhere else that would not be as expensive. The whole problem is that dh just found out he may be losing his job. So the money spent going to Disney would really be useful in the event he does. We have already pre-paid everything and we got in on the dining plan. I just hate to possibly lose this $400 in airline tickets because we never fly anywhere. Thanks for the advice. I might call and see if I can at least get the $134 credited back.
