Sw really is up now>> rates around 114

My fares are GREAT!! $82 each way from Columbus OH!! BOTH DATES ARE SATURDAYS, TOO!!! :cool1: Booking my flight there tonight- will book flight home when the price drops to the $64ish range, will cancel original booking, re-book, and use the credit towards it.

Glad I went ahead and purchased my $59 flight on Jetblue out of Dulles for October!

Though I've seen this play out time and time again. Everyone waits, they release, the prices are high, folks are not happy, then in a couple of days the price drops. It's like a bad re-run!

Just looked again and noticed no non-stop flight in and out of Dulles airport. That is new unless they are not done loading. That makes my decision very easy who I fly in the future. (not SW)

I noticed this too! Where are the usual non-stop flights between IADulles and MCO? At least on the weekends in Aug/Sept there were NONE, when they used to have, I think two per day.
Just last night I was annoyed with Airtran and Jetblue b/c they changed the times for our flights, but heck I got non-stop Airtran IAD-DCA for $53 each plus fees, and Jet Blue MCO-IAD for $85-ish plus fees.
Hopefully SW will come down for everyone that waited so patiently! But I guess it is good advice...when you see a fare at a decent time and price you can live with..grab it and don't look back!

We are also in the hunt for good airfares.. Does SW have resort checkin(RAC) for the return trip?? We are staying at BLT's....smjj

I believe they started property wide today.

I just posted about this on another thread. I am totally bummed too! i am thinking maybe of going a day early but I don't know where I would stay.

When will you be arriving? You could stay near or actually in the airport if you arrive later in the evening. Priceline will get you a cheap room near the airport then you go back and use DME or if you stay at the MCO Hyatt they will bring your bags to DME for you and then you just go down and grab a bus and head to your resort in the morning to check in.

I always book an extra day on each end of the trip so I can adjust based on flight schedules. I've checked Delta and their times are MUCH better for not a heck of a lot more, $5 each way and we'd only be checking 1 bag between the 2 of us AND I'd be paying for EBCI on SWA so probably talking another $40 for better times on Delta. I truly can't believe SWA has cancelled the early morning flight out and the early evening return. I don't know whether there's a chance they'll be added back but I am certainly not booking SWA or Delta yet.

Let the WAITING GAME begin!!! :worship:

It is taking SO SLOW for the payment part of the website, are 5 million people on southwest.com right now? Not having trouble with any other site.
I was hoping for a later time with non stop, but their late non stop, is too late, so going for 1 run of the day at 104.10.

Delta's fares for my dates with MUCH better times than SWA have dropped from $260 RT to $228.

Patience, patience!!!!

I was going to book a few weeks ago with United for $560 for the three us (not counting lap kid). I decided to wait and see what SW had and I'm so glad I did. Saved us $100.

I just booked from LI too at $89 each way for October :cool1:

I saw $89 midweek also but it was 109 on Sunday in September. Went to book it for 2 people and it jumped to 122. Ended up doing it as 1 and 1 and got $109 for the first and $122 for the second. Not bad for a Sunday.

Congrats. When I saw the $79 each way for our Labor Day trip from Chicago, I booked right away. We were able to get the midmorning out and late morning back that we wanted.

Lucky you! :thumbsup2 My Long Island dates are running $150 each way.
This morning it's up to $204!!

I am trying to find out the answer to this: So if I understand correctly, I can rebook with Southwest without fees? There are several cheap flights right now, but not the flight I really want. If that flight goes cheaper, can I switch to that flight and not pay any extra??

Thanks!

That's correct. You can do it yourself right online - no fees. That's what I did. I took a $69 flight, not really the time I wanted. Hopefully the nonstop that I really want will go down to $69 & then I will switch the flight. I have done it many times...so easy. Also, if the price goes down you will get the credits to use toward your next flight, as long as you use it within one year of original booking. :goodvibes

From SouthWest's website:

Same-day Changes
On your original date of travel you are free to fly standby or make confirmed changes (if seats are available) for another flight to your destination at no additional cost.

If you booked a "Wanna Get Away Fare" you would have to pay any applicable fare increase. Just one of the MANY reasons I adore Southwest!

You may also cancel your ticket and apply the FULL value of the ticket towards travel within 12 months, or by the tickets expiration date, and there is no change fee. In my opinion, even if SW's fare is higher than another carrier, its worth it to go SW, just to avoid the possibility of a change fee. Most airlines charge $150 for a change of any kind. AirTran I think are the only ones that still do $75, but that may have changed.

I am caught in the rising prices! I think I have waited too long. The flight I want started at $82 but I couldn't book because I needed everyone s schedule first. I finally got the last person's schedule and it is now $154!!!! Just 2 days ago it was $139. I am so mad at myself for not just booking what I wanted and telling all the family to work with it! ;) Now I can't decide if I should wait a little longer and hope for a ding (travel 1st week of June) or just book and hope for a credit.

So the moral to my sad little story is don't wait too long! If you see a good fare go ahead and book!
