if I check in for the 1st leg of our flight on SW, are we automatically checked in for the 2nd leg? and any advice on how to view our early boarding pass purchase? I'm 99.9% sure I bought them for an upcoming trip, but I want to double check and can't figure it out....

Yes, if you have a connecting flight you will be checked in for both legs when you check in for the first flight.

If you call up your reservation on the SWA site, you should see an orange EB symbol next to the passenger names indicating that you have purchased EBCI.

To view/print the actual boarding passes and see your boarding numbers you have to wait until 24 hours before your flight even though SWA will check you in 36 hours in advance.

thanks! that was easy to do,once you pointed it out.....:)
