Hi all,

I booked a flight on SWA for our June trip. I booked the outbound flight separately than the return somewhat based on the advice on the boards for price drops.

I have been watching the flights to see if maybe the prices have dropped (we paid higher than usual as most people are these days). Today I noticed a $10 price drop on our outbound flight. That would save me $30 for the 3 of us. However, I still have some hope that it might drop one more time (it's still pretty high, even compared to our return flight).

I would like to change the booking to get the savings, but if I do, if it drops AGAIN maybe in a week or whenever for the exact same flight, can I rebook twice (or even more if applicable)?????

Also, how do I go about doing this exactly? Do I pull up my resv. and is it pretty self-explanatory?

TIA!!!!! :)

You can rebook to get savings as many times as you can find lower prices.

To get the credits, go to the Travel Tools menu on the top right corner of the SWA main page and select Change Air Reservation. Enter your Confirmation Number and name of somebody in your travel party. Select the flight you want to change. Search for the exact same flight and go through until the end of the booking process. You will now have 3 credits for $10 each under your confirmation number. Keep your confirmation number because that is what you'll need for using the credits to book another flight.

Thanks for the question. We've been wondering how this process works too. Sorry to post a question onto a question, but the last posters answer made me think of a follow up question.

When you rebook to get a credit, does it have to be for the same time slot? What if a different time has a lower price than you originally paid and you want to switch to that time? Can you still get the credit?

you can switch to another time. It brings up everything available, you can even change the day if you want.

This is great info! Thanks so much - I just have one more question - when does the credit have to be used by - is it a year from the date I change, the date of flight or something else? Thanks again!

Well, I just re-booked and it was very easy! Thanks for all your help. And the good news was that I actually saved $60! I forgot how much I paid for my tickets in the first place!

I also see that I have to use the credit and FLY by the date I originally booked the tickets. So I answered my own question.

One more question - do I have to use them to the people they are assigned to?

Thanks again! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

something else;)the date you booked the flight, currently you can call SWA after it expires & pay to extend the credit if necessary

I have had trouble using multiple credits when booking a future flight. I think I was trying to use three or four & it wouldn't let me...I kept getting an error message & couldn't continue to pay for the flight. I just gave up on using all of them because it really wasn't that much money. Maybe there is a trick that I just don't know about. :goodvibes

At the moment, the credits can be used by anybody. SWA was trying to make a change so that only the person whose name is attached to the credit can use it, but I think they had trouble with the system upgrade required to make this happen so it never got implemented. Right now I don't think there's any kind of date determined yet for when they'll try again. Technically the credits are not transferable so they are supposed to be used by the person whose name is attached to the credit.

Using the credits can be tricky. You can use up to 3 credits plus a credit card or paypal as payment for a flight. If you have more than 3 credits then you have to split up your itinerary in order to use all the credits. Here's the breakdown of how we used up 12 credits for our family of 4.
outbound flight me: 3 credits & credit card
outbound flight DH: 3 credits & credit card
outbound flight DD10: 3 credits & credit card
outbound flight DD13: 3 credits & credit card
return flight all of us on one itinerary: credit card
We all had separate confirmation numbers going down. Coming back we had 1 confirmation number. It's more time consuming but it's definitely doable.

Your $60 credit is actually 3 $20 credits. You use the credit by clicking on the Apply Travel Funds button on the payment screen and then entering the confirmation number and the name of somebody on the confirmation. You'll then be shown all 3 credits. If you end up getting more credits then it'll show all of the credits and you'll have to delete all but the 3 that you want to use in order to add a credit card.

I hope I haven't made this too confusing for you. If you need clarification of anything, just ask.
