A friend and I are going down to DL at the end of September and we have a free day so I was thinking we could go down to SW.

I was wondering what is a MUST SEE when we go?
Also - What time would we need to leave anaheim on a Monday morning in order to get to SW when it opens at 10?
Can we see everything worth seeing in one day?

Thanks! :yay: :yay:

you can do all of Sea World in a day Easy... I was there yesterday with my sisters and their kids. We didnt get there till about 1:30. and we had done everything by 7:30. Including the shamu show, sea lion show, dolphin show. We did not however go on any of the rides. Just the shows and exhibits.

Darrenman, did you have a chance to see Shamu Rocks show? On the schedule, the Shamu rocks show only performs late at night (8:00pm) is that right?
Dan

Don't miss Cirque de la Mer or Shamu Rocks!

Also, make sure you take the chance to feed the dolphins!!

Will Shamu Rocks show perform during the day?
When look at the show schedule on the Web, the only time that I would catch the show is either 8:00pm & 9:30 pm. Isn't that correct?

As far as I know, Shamu Rocks is only at night, and not during the off-season. Also, Cirque de la Mer isn't usually shown during the off-season, so those two may not be an option for the OP's visit in September.

Another thing to remember in the off-season is that the park is only open from 10-5 or 6 on weekdays, and the shows don't start until 11 or 11:30 and are not as frequent as during the summer.

So it may be extremely difficult to hit all the shows and rides, plus the exhibits, in 1 weekday in the off-season.

I would recommend figuring out what you really want to see ahead of time, on seaworld.com. When it gets closer, look at the show schedule and decide what shows are really must-see for you, and plan your day around those.

Maybe you love dolphins and want to spend more time seeing that show and feeding them, and aren't as interested in the shark exhibit, for example. It's definitely worth a little advanced planning to maximize your day at SeaWorld.

It's a wonderful park and I don't think you will be disappointed! A weekday in September is a great time to go, IMO!

We did not end up staying for it. We figured the shamu rocks show was going to be the same shamu show we saw during the day, but at night. And it didn't start until 9:30. Being it was 7pm and we had done everything. We just decided to leave instead of wait.

The park was open until 11pm.

Shamu Rocks and Believe are pretty different - Shamu Rocks is MUCH less cheesey than Believe.

Personally, I think Believe is a horrible show. I don't need a story to watch whales do tricks.

Thank you MonkeyMonkey. My initial plan was, to go to the Zoo on the day that I arrived (3pm on Saturday afternoon. July 5), stay overnight in SD, go to SW on Sunday and travel back to Anaheim around 7pm. Now my plan is no longer workable. I really want to watch the Shamirocks show, so I was thinking of reversing the days that I go to the zoo & SW. If I visit SW on Saturday (~3pm), I would be able stay later. We have a 6yr old son and we are not really keen on rollercoasters or spinning action rides. Do you have any sugestions as to what we should do? Do we have enough time to see all the main shows? :cool1:

I don't think you'd be able to see all of the main day shows bc of how long they are & the time it takes to walk there (unless you're fine missing the beginning), but you can make up a day show w/ a night one. IMO, I would reccomend that if you had to choose a night show instead of a day one bc of time, I'd choose the dolphin show. I wouldn't miss want to miss the Sea Lion & Otter Show bc they are just silly & fun and the night one is hysterical.

Here's a link of the show times for July 5th: http://www.seaworld.com/ParkHours.aspx?LocationID=3&ScheduleID=39634

Do you happen to know what the actual duration of the shows are? (such as shami rocks, sea lions, dolphin discovery, pet rule and Sesame 4D movies)
Thanks.

to me, a whale jumping out of water, is a whale jumping out of water. I always get sad seeing how people completely take over their lives to make them do tricks for our amusment. Sorry to sound like peta.

I agree, and that applies to all of the animals in shows at SeaWorld.

But I decided when I first took my son to SW that I was going to put my personal feelings about that aside so he and I could enjoy the park together, and we do, regularly.

One redeeming quality about SeaWorld is that they have bred several killer whales over the years, and brought awareness about marine mammals to large numbers of people.

Another reason I dislike Believe is because the "story" makes it sound like there is nothing more natural than humans and killer whales interacting. Um, no.

I think they are all about 20-25 minutes long. The information might be on Seaworld.com. I know they list they show durations on the map you get at the park, which has the show schedule on it.

Actually I was able to do 4 shows at night on June 24 ( Monday)

Pets Rule at 6:00 ( follow by Dinner)
Sea Lion and Otter ( 7:45) - a must see show- even my 1 yr-old enjoyed it.
Dolphins at 8:30
Shamu at 9:00
They make an anouncement at the Dolphin show not to run to the Shamu show as there is plenty of time. I guess they will make an effort to wait for the crowd from the Dolphin show. For the Shamu show, try to use the entrance that is further from the main entrance as there will be more seats.

IF you have ther energy, there is anothor show(Riptide) at 9:30 in front of the main gate follows by fireworks at 9:50
