I was suprised recently to read some the the threads talking about $49 Fares from MHT to MCO. Usually the Hartford fares mirror the PVD and MHT fares (or they mirror each other) Anyway, we're currently booked 11/8-1//15 BDL to MCO at the $79 fare. We could fly out of PVD or MHT for $49. It's 1.5 hours to PVD and 2.25 to MHT. Would you drive 1.5 hours (twice) to save $180? I just wish SW would offer the internet one way's from BDL. That would solve everything! LOL!

3 hour drive time RT @ $60 per hour = $180. I'll tell you what. I'll come over and drive you to PVD and home again for that kind of wage. ;)

Seriously, how can you even question it unless you are independently wealthy? I'd do the drive to save a lot less than than you are.

Don't forget to figure in the possible difference in the cost of parking at a different airport, and the possible need to stay overnight there.

I'm flying into Tampa instead of Orlando to save $124... hopefully the I4 drive won't turn into an hour & a half but I'll do just about anything within reason to save $$

It's more convenient with a 7 year old to fly out of BDL for us (it's about 25 minutes to BDL). PVD and MHT are well over 2 hours. I believe PVD and MHT mightr have the $49 fares during our October timeframe but DH does not want to tack on more time on ethier end of our trip. $79 is a very good price, anyway!

For our April cruise, I could not find flights for less than 350 from BDL to MIA/FLL. I ended up flying out of Long Island for 158. Even with the cost of the ferry and the hotel for the for the night before (our flight was at 7am) we still were ahead.

I say go for it!

We live in Harrisburg PA which is only 15 minutes from Harrisburg International Airport. I could do a flight on USAir for about 190-200 out of Harrisburg per person but instead we are driving to Balitmore Washington International (BWI) and doing a Park, Sleep and Fly which is where you park your car and stay overnight and you can leave your car there for 10 days free. The cost of the Hotel for the night before is $98 but parking or shuttle to Harrisburg would cost me 70 round trip so I'm saving a boat load being our Southwest tickets were the $49 one way with tax and everything it came out to $116.50 around that. But I'm driving 1.5 hrs. It is worth it. More spending money in WDW.

When I mentioned this to DH and said absolutely not. (And we're not indepently wealthy, but driving having to drive 1.5 to 2.0 hours after a full day of theme parks and a late flight home would have the whole vacation end on a bad note.
We were flying Mon to Mon. As it turns out, SWA dropped their BDl-MCo fares to match USAIR flying Tues to Tues so I changed the dates and am now booked RT for $129.90. If they later lower the rest of the week, I might go back to Mon-Mon. But glad to slide in under $130. That's my "good fare" barometer. Anyway, anyone else with Tues or Wed flights, you might want to recheck.
