My brother can't make our trip. If he cancells flight with SW he gets a credit, right?

OK when can he change the name on the ticket?

1-- after the credit is giving and then he can change the name on ticket

2-- can he transfer it to his DD and not cancell

Yes, he gets a credit if he cancels his flight.
He will then have a credit out on SWA, when he choses to make reservations again, he will fill in the name of the person flying and when it comes to the purchase tickets now screen, you will have an option of applying unused SWA credits. You click that box.
No, he cannot transfer the ticket to his DD without cancelling first. The fares are not transferable.
